I don't have any sort of a list and haven't put any thought into ranking albums at all, but I can say that the album that I listened to and have enjoyed the most all year is:

Dee Snider - For the Love of Metal


That is such a surprise to me, but I love it and keep coming back to it over and over again.

I keep seeing so much buzz for this album but never bothered to pay much attention. Yesterday, I finally listened to the samples from the album and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I am ordering this album asap and it may very well crack the top few albums of the year for me.

I preferred this to their studio album. There lead singer has a great personality

Greatest hits album. Missing a lot of the great early stuff

Hasn't been a big year for me.  Turin Brakes "Invisible Storm", Melody's Echo Chamber "Bon Voyage" and Haken are all I really like.

So, the year finally came into clear view for me in the last week or so and I finally have a definitive list.

1. Rikard Sjöblom's Gungfly - Friendship

The big surprise album for me. This is as close to Beardfish as he has come and I love it. Can't stop listening to this album and I really hope he continues down this path.

2. Ultraphonix - Original Human Music

Another surprise. I've always gotten a bit of a Winery Dogs vibe with this album. A mish-mash of styles with exceptional players. This is my first George Lynch album and he impressed me quite a bit. The whole band is rock solid. I hope we get a follow-up.

3. Northward - Northward

It's Floor, what else needs to be said. I love hearing her in a bit of a different light on this album and it is awesome.

4. Voivod - The Wake

Classic band that is still going strong. Love hearing them back and as strong as ever.

5. Dee Snider - For The Love Of Metal

Another surprise album that I can't get out of my head. Dee slays on this record.

3. Northward - Northward

It's Floor, what else needs to be said. I love hearing her in a bit of a different light on this album and it is awesome.

I was kind of dissapointed with this.  I knew it was different and loved the two singles before the album release, but I find the rest of the album to be very uninteresting sadly.  She is fantastic though.  I guess I could add it to the #10 slot in my top ten since it only lists 9.

The surprise of the year came in the form of tech-y death metal that mixes the old-school and the modern delightfully. Slugdge and Revocation as well as Horrendous' Idol album delivered in this regard. Obscura's Dilivium was good for its nods to Focus-era Cynic, but not much beyond that IMO.

My favourite album is actually an EP but it's pretty much perfect in my opinion so it should definitely be on 1. Also my tastes have changed quite a bit from last year, God is An Astronaut is the most metal thing there
