1995 was a bad year for music? Maybe if you haven’t listened to much from that year or you have a really limited music taste.

Radiohead - The Bends
Death - Symbolic
Björk - Post
Ulver - Bergtatt: Et eeventyr i 5 capitler
Dissection - Storm of the Light’s Bane
Swans - The Great Annihilator
Autechre - Tri repetae
Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side
Scott Walker - Tilt
The Gathering - Mandylion
My Dying Bride - The Angel and the Dark River
Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Gamma Ray - Land of the Free
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Down - NOLA
Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante
Moonspell - Wolfheart
Darkthrone - Panzerfaust
Rage - Black in Mind
Conception - In Your Multitude
Immortal - Battles in the North
Etc...

All good to great.

I remember I was massively into the Garbage debut in 1995....and massively into their lead singer (not literally, unfortunately).

Of the poll if asked in 1995 I'd have said Mellon Collie, now 23 years later it's The Bends by someway.  Oasis would never have been in the running - for me they were a cross between the shitty leftovers of The Beatles and more generic bits of Slade.

The Bends for sure.  MoGlo was a let down for me, too slow and mellow in parts.  Didn't like SP.

Blur made their best album imo in 1995: The Great Escape.  It's silly in parts but has great variety and production.

Other good albums of 95:
PT- Sky Moves Sideways
Duran Duran - Thank You (covers album, surprisingly good I think)
Catherine Wheel - Happy Days (not as good as their masterpiece Chrome but still good)
Alanis - Jagged Little Pill
Pulp - Different Class

Prepares to duck for cover but........

.........Bon Jovi - These Days anyone?  Their last classic album for me.

As far as the poll goes, it's The Bends all day long.

Pink Floyd - Pulse

Oh, wow.  I had forgotten that that was '95.  As far as new music, I still stand by '95 basically being a desert.  But that is a heck of a live/compilation release.

A fine choice.  Personally, they were dead to me once the New Jersey tour ended.  But that's just me.

I don't normally include live releases because I don't care for them but that specific one is too close to perfection and worthy of mention.

I think I'll go with Oasis even though I really dig Mellon.

Off topic but when talking about 95 being a bad year for music don't forget that Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve came out that year which pretty much destroys that argument as far as i'm concerned.

The debut albums by The Flower Kings and Spock's Beard, both of which are terrific, came out in 1995.

The Bends is awesome.

The Bends.

In '95 I was a senior in college and was on the executive board of the campus tv station.  One morning some staff were hanging out in the office and we had the college radio station on, the dj offered up a cassette copy of "The Bends" to whatever caller so I started dialing.  I think I was the 3rd, 4th and 5th caller, (it was early and I'm sure not a lot of people were listening at this time).  Ended up winning the cassette.  Best part was all I had to do was walk down to the opposite end of the hallway to pick it up.

Mellon Collie, though I like Morning Glory as well.

There are a couple of good songs on The Bends.
