I'm very intrigued by the poll results, being that I've always wanted to check out Morning Glory and Mellon Collie. The Bends is obviously an album I adore, but I can't vote since I haven't heard the other ones. Maybe someone can let me know the results in about a week?

Being a big fan of all three bands I feel like what gives Morning Glory and Mellon Collie a slight edge for me is that they are both (IMO) the best albums those two bands put out, whereas The Bends - as great as it is, is not one of the best Radiohead albums.

As I’ve only heard Morning Glory I went for that. It’s a good album. Not my thing but a good album. I have it in my collection because an ex left it behind. Haven’t played it in years.

This.  @thread:  Thanks for the reminder of what a terribly abysmal year in music 1995 was.  Looking back at a list of album releases for 1995, it makes me almost angry that there was so much absolute garbage and so little of interest that year.  But we did get a few nuggets of goodness at least.  Megadeth put out Hidden Treasures, which was a nice little gem (no pun intended) while waiting for the next album.  We got a pretty good live release from Scorpions.  And Y&T would thoroughly confuse their fanbase with Musically Incorrect.  Of course, I would later discovery A Change of Seasons.  But, man, so much music released, and yet such a bleak and desolate time for music fans.

DT mas made some good albums though (even if it's been a few decades) but to call all time classics garbage just seem's a bit much. :P

I completely agree.  Thankfully, there weren't any all-time classics released in 1995.

I'm very curious, Bosk, why don't you like the alternative scene? What did you make of such influences in Dream Theater music, e.g. Radiohead homages and stuff.

Can I add some of my favorite albums of 1995? Warning: this will really be an odd mixture.  :lol

Iron Maiden - The X Factor
Spock's Beard - The Light
Alice In Chains - Alice in chains
Blur - The Great escape
David Bowie - 1. Outside
Death - Symbolic
Faith No More - King for a day... fool for a lifetime
The Apples In Stereo - Fun trick noisemaker

Whoa hold the fuck up, two of the best metal albums of all time were released in 1995 thank you very much. Gamma Ray's Land of the Free and Blind Guardian's Imaginations From The Other Side. Plus A Change of Seasons. GTFO with this '1995 was a terrible year for music' nonsense my droogs :2metal:
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

"The best Radiohead album", sort of an oxymoron, no?    Like "jumbo shrimp"?

I like Mellie, but this is Oasis all the way.    Radiohead is not even in the discussion.     This is like comparing "Freddie Mercury", "Paul Rodgers" and "Barney Greenway" (or "William Hung" if you're of the stripe that says that growls are a skill and a talent).

I love how people are so quick to respond with such negativity to bands they have never really actively listened to, yet have a pretty narrow interest in music themselves.

mfw Y&T and Scorpions are the pinnacle of the music world

people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

If you're commenting on me - one of the more vocal anti-Radiohead voices here - you're seriously jumping to conclusions.   Don't let my "schtick" on the roulettes fool you; my interest in music is hardly "narrow" and given that I OWN The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A (and have heard everything through Hail To The Thief, plus one of Yorke's solo albums) I would hardly say I've never "actively listened to them".   But you can only beat a dead horse so much, and for me, with almost 2,000 CDs, there is only so much time in the day.  I'd rather listen to stuff that moves me, and that's not Radiohead.

I fully recognize that it is my opinion only, and if someone connects to them, well, god bless and I'm glad.    I'm more responding to the more specious claims that they are "revolutionary" (not necessarily made here).   I'm not seeing that at all.  It's certainly undeniable that they are a hipster- and critic-darling kind of band.

Speaking only for me, I can say that I have never listened to them much.  But I have heard enough to know that I don't want or need to "actively listen to" them, so there you go.

Mellon Collie is so far beyond those albums it's just not even close. Add in the b-sides from Aeroplane Flies High and you have the best collection of music from the entire 90's.

Is there a source with ALL the b-sides?   Last I checked you had to get a bunch of singles, and there was a box with a handle (like the old 45's holders) but  I think it was vinyl.  I really like that album, and would love to have all the b-sides in one place.

I'm not sure a physical version exists beyond the one you mentioned, but Amazon has the entire mp3 set for 15 dollars. I'm still amazed by how many high quality songs were left off the album, and that's not including all the demo riffs and song parts that didn't make it to the b-side stage.

I approve of this post, these both made my Top 50 a few years ago.

Can't vote in the poll as I've never heard any of these three.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.
