At the Gates - Slaugther of the Soul
At the Gates - The Nightmare of Being

Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full
Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway
Liquid Tension Experiment - LTE3

Terra Odium - Ne Plus Ultra (Progband with Steve di Giorgio on bass). I will give this more spins and there might be a crowd for this album on DTF. Think Fates Warning, Psychotic Waltz
Psychonaut / Saver - Emerald
Faal / Fading Bliss - Neither Tide Nor Time (split, both doombands with part female vocals)

I gave this one listen a few days ago. Definitely need to go back to it. Yes, the vocals have a Psychotic Waltz flavor.

BTW, This is the band from two members of Spiral Architect (singer/guitarist and drummer), if anyone remembers them. They only had one album, "A Sceptic's Universe", back in 2000. Pretty cool one-off, although not the easiest of listens  ;D The drummer has played for a bunch of Norwegian bands (including Borknagar and a few of Ihsahn's solo albums)

Mammoth WVH.   I am really digging this album hard.   So good from top to bottom.   I hear little bits and pieces of things, but it's wholly it's own.   The best piece?  The Panic Channel, which is one of my favorite bands; there are moments where Wolf sounds a bit like Steve Isaacs in his vocal delivery and in the melodies.

I HIGHLY recommend this. HIGHLY.

(FYI, I bought it in a lot with Myles Kennedy and Joe Bonamassa, and this is the one I liked best, even though the others are very good.)

I'm 10 songs deep into the WVH album and I think this would be a good stopping point. Rock albums that go an hour with 14 tracks are just too much for almost any artist, in my opinion. 40-45 minutes of your best cuts from the recording sessions, dudes, please. It's not bad though - but it isn't what I typically reach for when I want hard rock'n'roll. Glad I checked it out.

It was created after 1987.

One of the most underrated albums of the last decade was Odd Dimension's Last Embrace For Humanity from 2013. There's literally been no news from them for 8 years, and they suddenly appeared with a new album a month or so ago. They have a new singer (and drummer). I sampled them, and I just thought the new singer was way too silky smooth, whereas the previous singer..wasn't, but he had tons of character. The sample turned me off.

Anyway, today I had the house basically to myself, so I thought I'd check it out for good.

Damn, this is an excellent album. This singer is great, but I just can't place a comparison. This album should appeal to Styx or even Kansas fans that like the heavier side of those bands.

This album fucking slays  :metal   Never heard of them until your post.   :)

Three albums that caught my ear while sampling new music today.. Not hard pimps, but things I found interesting and Saved all three on Spotify.

Picture a very heavily keyboardy Helloween with death metal vocals and some cleans.

There aren't album tracks on youtube but there is an official video.

Listen with your ears, not with your eyes! :lol

Black Metalish. Music is really cool. Majestic in spots, and vocals are ok enough for me to listen to. This is pretty good stuff.

Really old school (70's?) vibe. Not metal or anything like that, just kind of groovy. This is one of the heavier tracks. Dark Times..very cool tune!

False Memories is an Italian band. They are on Frontiers, but they sound more like mid-early Lacuna Coil. Pretty good, not mind blowing. The Vicious Head Society is kind of a weird prog metal album. Some parts are quite interesting, some don't work super well, but it might be worth revisiting.

Listened to it the first time yesterday. I REALLY enjoyed it. And I agree that while it could be generally categorized as (modern-ish?) hard rock, I can't quite put it in a neat box. I found WVH's singing very good too. And I like how he goes a little "nuts" in some tracks (Feel? Stone?)  ;D.

Good stuff!

A little Peter Pumpkinhead I see.

Great stuff.  That and Apple Venus Part 1 are probably two of my favorites by XTC.

Same, although Oranges and Lemons and Skylarking are also excellent.
