Ah, good old Testament

Formation of Damnation is probably my favorite of the second Skolnick-era (I find the last two solid but not too exciting). Souls of Black tends to be a little underrated within the initial, "classic" run - perhaps because of the whole background story of how it was put together quickly. I very much enjoy it. My overall favorite Testament, though, remains The New Order.

They've been on such a roll for the last decade, at least. Brotherhood of the Snake was a bit of a dip, in my opinion, but Titans of Creation is just a sick album. It might be one of my favorite Testament records. Dark Roots is right behind it. I am excited to see them with Exodus and Death Angel this fall.

So I just spun this 2021 album this morning.

Not a hard pimp but I would highly recommend it if you're into a gloomy-Fields Of The Nephilim-Gothy kind of thing. Most of the album is at mid tempo. It has a quality sound and a cool vibe.

I'm definitely a sucker for that kind sound, so I checked it out

Cool album, right in that vein, with some heaviness thrown in. I guess this is their 7th (!) full-length...had no idea.

Incidentally, one my recent favorites in this overall "neighborhood" is the the last album from Lacrimas Profundere, "Bleeding the Stars" (2019). Very, very good.

Kinda forgot how good JBL's performance is on Score. I don't know the extent of post-production touch-ups, but regardless, his voice sounds great.

I've never heard of them until a couple days ago when a song came up on my Spotify Discovery List. My favorite was Coming Right Along, what an awesome, and bleak way to close the album. Also Burn & Shine had an ending similar to Pull Me Under
