Never a huge Styx fan, but I have that album and it's really nice.

If Cyril had sent Divinity and Flicker instead of Sea Of Voices and Goodbye To A World they might have barely won my roulette.

The Grand Illusion is definitely the peak of the original Styx lineup.    In fact it's my favorite Styx album followed closely by The Mission (their newest album from a few years ago) and Paradise Theater.  If you like The Grand Illusion you might also enjoy Paradise Theater, I think it's pretty close in terms of style.

Porter Robinson - Nurture

Listening to this now but not enjoying it as much as I'd like. Worlds is a bit spotty quality-wise and some songs have some... confusing creative decisions, but it's at least a lot more exciting and dynamic than this.
yeah my initial impression is that its highs aren't as high but its lows aren't as low (except for dullscythe which Sure Was A Decision) and it's more consistent overall
idk if i'll get into it as it doesn't have a sea of voices or goodbye to a world

I'll take note.  It's funny, I know and liked that album but never had the urge to check out anymore of their stuff.

Paradise Theater is great, but I've been sticking to the 70's this week. I did listen to The Mission when it came out, and it was definitely enjoyable, but never followed up with it.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

More 70's!!

Ted Nugent's first album is excellent. It's really the only studio album of his I like. His live stuff is great though.

When I was really young and just starting to get into music, I went through a Molly Hatchet phase. I owned their first three 8-tracks. I still really enjoy them.

Spirited, and often vulgar performance. Great band.

On most days, this is my favorite Deep Purple album.

Same.

I saw these guys open for Opeth a few years ago and they were pretty good. They had a great energy and stage presence  :metal

Just had a second listen through of this, and it is definitely top 10 AotY material!

I managed to get through it all, but no luck this time again. Not much that grabs me, too many ballads/slow songs, an absolutely uninteresting story.

Now I'm spinning Banks Of Eden by The Flower Kings.
