Waylon Jennings' voice is like a glass of good Scotch slid gently over a table of red velvet.   SMOOOOOOOTH.

Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations. Never heard this before - they just passed me by back in the day. Damn, I loved it. Played the re-recorded version.

The Coffin Train was one of my fave albums of 2019.  Give that one a spin too.

Issa - Queen Of Broken Hearts. Loved this too, and I really didn’t expect to.

You takin the pissa?

Strangely, no. I enjoyed it. Right album, right time maybe. The sun was shining, I was driving...

Today

LTE 3

John Petrucci - Terminal Velocity

Openhanded - Damnation. What a stunning album. By far the best thing I’ve heard from them.

Porter Robinson - Nurture

Listening to this now but not enjoying it as much as I'd like. Worlds is a bit spotty quality-wise and some songs have some... confusing creative decisions, but it's at least a lot more exciting and dynamic than this.

YUP!

This may be overlooked, but I love this album. My #2 Aerosmith album.

Ace Frehley rules this album. I enjoy the Gene songs and Paul is fantastic as usual.

Amazing album. Sheer brilliance. Tony Levin plays on two songs including the title track.

Brian Downey's best album. I swear it's Nicko McBrain on Opium Trail. This album contains one of my favorite lyric in Dear Lord.."Dear Lord, Take the time. I believed your story, Now you believe mine."

Alright so I'm half way through this album and it's already the best album I've heard this year. If Joe Satriani did a heavy album whose primary influence was Pantera this would be it.

Album is called Starzinger by Ola Englund

This was my first exposure to Porter Robinson, so I didn't have anything to compare it with.  I thought it was nice.  I definitely enjoyed it, just not sure how often I would revisit it.

My 18-year old is a fan, and was surprised I was listening lol.

Mike + The Mechanics - Mike + The Mechanics. Picked this up for nothing to offset shipping costs on a discogs order. I had it on cassette years back and lost it, but I don't remember any of these songs besides the singles somehow.

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak. I enjoy this album way more than I thought I would. Always liked the radio cuts but didn't expect to be into the deep tracks. They're all great.

Nice HOF! Thin Lizzy is a great band. Jailbreak has tons of good songs. I know it's easy to get sick of the radio hits, but The Boys Are Back In Town never gets old. The Cowboy Song is probably my favorite Thin Lizzy tune. They're definitely a band worth checking out.

Decisions that change your life: when I was a kid my brothers and I would game the BMG music club system by referring each other to get the free CDs. When I joined and was trying to pick out the introductory CDs, there was a Thin Lizzy greatest hits CD that I was gonna get but I changed my mind about it after I already filled out my order. Don’t even remember what I got instead or why I changed my mind.

I always really liked The Cowboy Song as well, along with Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back. But I think they did fall into “radio band” territory for me.  I never got back around to checking them out until about a month or so back. This is still the only one I’ve heard, but it’s just a great listen front to back.

BMG was great. Did that many times.

You're kind of opposite from me usually, so I don't know what I'd recommend next for you. The only other Thin Lizzy song I'd ever heard on the radio was Hollywood (Down On Your Luck) off of 1981's Renegade album, which BTW is my favorite album of theirs.

My second favorite is 1977's Bad Reputation, which is the last to feature Brian Robertson on guitar, as it basically closes out their Classic Era. Try that one. It has some great tunes I think you'd like..Dear Lord, Dancin' In The Moonlight, Southbound...

I was gonna say, tell me your least favorite TL album and I’ll start there next! Just kidding, I’ll try to check out Bad Reputation next.

Continuing my 70's Week!

Ozzy sounds awesome on this. Especially in the Thrill Of It All and especially The Writ. Megalomania might be the 70's most underrated epic.

It's been a while, but this album is simply wonderful. Just classics all the way through.

Cozy Powell and Don Airey rule this album.

Classic album. Blackfoot would marry Skynyrd and the NWOBHM, but Strikes is more faithful to their roots.
Not familiar with Blackfoot?
