Impressions:
On Strange Loops is a pretty diverse album, considering its genre. A satisfying listen from start to finish.
Secret Garden has some great stuff, but I think some parts of the album will need time to grow on me.
Stranger Heads Prevail is great, but a lot of the songs feel too similar to each other.
Ashes Against the Grain is enjoyable overall, aside from the last track which is too long for what it is.

That last track is a Big Mood. Gotta listen to that in the right frame of mind in the right setting. God, I love it so much.

For reference, I am specifically referring to "Our Fortress is Burning... III - The Grain"; I like the first two parts. If you mean the third part specifically as well, then that's very interesting to hear. In any case, this is an album I'll be returning to; hopefully I'll grow to like that track as much as you guys!

Also wow. Though in some ways it is the most black metal track they've ever done so I guess I'm not super shocked.

I basically never listen to it - Part II is already a perfect climax to the record so I'm satisfied turning it off there, and my edit of Our Fortress Is Burning... fades out after it.

It is extremely extremely good and one of those pieces of music that gets way better over time.

Yeah Revenge, I was referring to The Grain as well. I didn't get it for years.

Today, I listened to my favorite album of all time. Personally, I see this album as evidence that things greater than perfection do exist. Nobody else I know loves this anywhere near as much as I do, but if any of you are interested/morbidly curious as to what this is and what it sounds like, the full title of the album is "Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- Original Song Collection". And yeah, this is that "other thing" I listen to. I could go into detail about why I love this album, but that'd result in a wall of text too big for a single post in this thread.

Glad you came forward and felt comfortable posting this in here. I'm 100% going to give it a listen. Just had a quick search on Spotify and I can't find the album, but there is a 6 hour playlist

I'll try the album on YouTube first. Is it an anime soundtrack or a video game soundtrack? Either way, I'm down. I'll report back at some point in the next 24 hours!

You would like it I think. The band are called Lalu. They’re french I think (well the keyboard player/main dude is), but we won’t hold that against them 😁. Prog metal. A bit Queensryche in places.

You're mostly right about it being a video game soundtrack; most of the songs were commissioned for the game that this is a soundtrack of (Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA), but I think there's a couple songs that were made prior to the game being developed. For sake of simplicity, though, I would refer to it as a video game soundtrack.
As for the album itself, it's only 10 songs (there's 13, but the last three are alternate versions of songs already played on the main album) and it's only 34 minutes total (excluding the bonus tracks). I have a playlist of the album on YouTube, which I can link if I'm allowed to do that.
