James LaBrie - Static Impulse

A pretty cool modern metal record with suitable production for its style. The harsh vocals are a bit unnecessary in my opinion but they don't exactly ruin the album either. Some songs are very good but my general feel is that there is something missing here. I think I bought the CD back when I had my most intense Dream Theater period and then I just sort of forgot about it for a long time.

Some listening for my current roulette round lead to this. I need to come back and actually finish listening to this but it sounds pretty good. Might like it more than Mantiis based solely on the fact that not all of the songs have the same tempo.

They're still around. They put out an album in 2016 and an EP a couple years ago. Not sure if they are working on a new album though...

The cleaned up and released a one track from each of the sessions of First Chapter and Isolate that didn't make the album. Both pretty good.
