So you'll appreciate this...

I was talking to Wolfking about Fields Of The Nephilim,. He checked them out and sent me Hallways Of Enchanted Ebony. The resemblance was striking. So I'm checking out their albums. Really liking it!

Are you just going through their discography for the first time?

Basically yes!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

The Mantle is special to me.  The depression, the lyrics, the atmosphere, the instrumentation, everything about it makes me feel warm and safe inside.  This album came to me at the right time a couple years ago.  It's magic.

Nice. Their first four albums are all great, though Ashes Against The Grain and Marrow Of The Spirit are my favorites.

I would also recommend their The White EP, but knowing your tastes, maybe not. :lol

I see so many citing Ashes as the best, but I don't get it, besides Falling Snow of course, which is by far their best song.  Never really loved the rest of it all that much.

Ha I did!  It was the EP roulette, round 1 my Winter EP.  Had that song, Wintersun, Immortal, Borknagar, Amorphis and High on Fire.  It ripped, I was so proud of it.  :lol :metal

It's just such a consistently-great album, to the point where Falling Snow, despite being fantastic, isn't even my favorite song on there, because the first two parts of Our Fortress Is Burning... exist.

When I saw II Bloodbirds I knew I recognized the title. Sure enough, it was sent by Tomi in my 2nd Roulette's Growl Round.

Here's what I said about it...

I loved the instrumental build up on this. I could get totally lost in it. The worst part was trying to figure out exactly when the track would be ruined. What a shame when it happens. I really liked this instrumentally.

I'll make a note to revisit it again.  For me, it just seems a bit underwhelming when The Mantle exists, but that's just me.

Interesting album, Chapter One is great as well.

Blind-ordered it. Listened to it twice now and I’m not a big fan but it is interesting. On the other hand I sampled Chapter One and I really liked what I heard so I blind-ordered it too. Since the pandemic ordering albums has been "a bit" of an addiction.

Speaking of interesting albums...

Sounds like dark electronic music but it’s actually one man playing the saxophone. Really unique. Really digging it.

Nice, I know Colin is wild, but haven't listened to any of his records yet. Might take the plunge soon.

Alice in Chains - s/t
Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound of Thunder
Prong - Prove You Wrong
Jordan Rudess - The Road Home
Haken - Restoration
ELP - Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends...

That album's quite the undertaking, for any group of musicians and especially for Edu some 15 years down the line. I've seen the live video popping up recently. Do you reckon it's worth checking out?

I'd say it's definitely worth checking out. I picked up the Bluray when it released and it's a really fun watch. Edu actually sounds really good on this release and he even got Aquiles Priester to play drums for the show. Also the 2 guitarists he got for this are amazingly good.

I watched this (Edu Falaschi's live rendition of Angra's album Temple of Shadows). Cheers Pups, it was well-worth seeing! Although the band did indeed seem to pull it off admirably, I have my doubts on the actual live-ness of it all. Edu singing better than when Angra toured the album back in the day is a bit suspect.

It was nice hearing a proper orchestra perform all the symphonic parts and embellishments. Using Gate XIII as an overture made a lot of sense.

I'm not a fan of that all-too-common Kemper/AxeFX guitar tone both guitarists had here, especially compared to the warm, punchy tones of the original.
Human by Nature (prog-infused psychedelic metal): https://linktr.ee/hbnearth
Our debut album "Eläimys" is a trip I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone into Pain of Salvation, Opeth, The Mars Volta, Magma etc.

First impression after not listening to this album in like 15 years is it sounds like straight garbage. Who the hell mixed this thing?

ooo I don't know I'll have to look it up.

You know I was in middle school when this album came out and I burned to a cd because I couldn't afford to buy it. My memory was it sounded terrible then but I figured it was a low bitrate rip. Today I looked it up on Spotify and it was terrible, so bad that I was like let me check some other sources and no, it's awful everywhere

It's the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Anthony Keidis is singing.  I venture to say it would sound like ass no matter WHO mixed it!

Oh! I know Rick Produced it but wasn't aware how much input he would have on mix. This is off topic but I used to listen to his podcast and sometimes I get the impression that he just graced some albums with his name and took some production royalties while providing minimal input.

I'm not sure either honestly, but nearly all the albums he shows up as a producer on are brickwalled as hell, so I think it's safe to point the finger at him. Death Magnetic is the infamous one, but some of his System Of A Down albums sound like shit too.
