I heard Bulb (Misha Mansoor) had a new album out just a couple days ago so... I looked it up and found 9 other albums he put out under the Bulb name this year. WTF. Okay, guess that's what I'm listening to for the rest of today/tomorrow/the next day unless I don't enjoy these and skip them  :lol

Was Electronic by Bulb, now it's

One of my favorite go-tos for chill background music. I believe I found this through Puppies, but I can't remember how. I absolutely love the three-track combo of Forgiveness + Mountain King + Wave Cascade.

I really like Solar Fields but never checked out that album, I'll have to give it a spin soon.

Nobody told me Britney Spears had a new album out this year! Damn!

NP: Britney Spears - Glory

Okay, so it's a re-release of 2016's album, but it's an excuse to listen to it.

What's your take on that one?   I was a HUGE fan of Scorpions, and to this day listen to Animal Magnetism and Blackout fairly often.   Love At First Sting is good not great (though I'll fight anyone that "Still Loving You" is the best ballad to come out of the '80's) and Savage Amusement is where I got off the train.  I should revisit it, because it's not like it SUCKS, it just seemed to be trying too hard to be the crazy "Bad Boys Running Wild" Scorpions.  It seemed forced.

Bill, IMO, Savage Amusement has really aged well. I was a bit skeptical when it came out for the same reasons you mentioned. But it's a good record that I believe time has been kind to.

I even saw them on that tour in Worcester.

Bulb - Archives (volume 1, volume 2, now volume 3 as of the time of this post)

I don't like Periphery because of the singer, but some of this is pretty good. Although, the Electronic album thus far is easily the best one, imo, and I love all the songs on that one. But the 3 Archives records so far are mostly just djenty Periphery style stuff without a singer. Which is cool, it sounds good and is pleasant, but none of the songs are really sticking on the brain the way the Electronic record's songs do. It's still very nice to hear but I'm waiting to be hit with something that stands out again, maybe the Orchestral one will do that.

Yeah, it’s a decent album. I’d take Crazy World over it from that time period but it’s very good.

Blue Oyster Cult - The Symbol Remains
Marko Hietala - Pyre of the Black Heart
Alcatrazz - Born Innocent

I wasn’t even aware until last week that Alcatrazz released a new album in July. Some truly terrible lyrics here :lol, but otherwise a decent listen. Graham Bonnet’s voice is low in the mix, so he is not so overbearing here.

is it just me or is this one of the flattest, least interesting "prog metal" albums of the year? maybe period? i dunno what i expected but i expected, like... at least one single interesting thing to happen across a 54 minute runtime

My friend's band Adamantis released their debut album today and it's fucking dope US power metal. Really loving it, and I'm not saying that just 'cause I'm his friend. Also got a sick t-shirt and patch in the mail. The navy blue and the artwork go sooo well together. I want more non-black band shirts! The cover art on the CD makes it the prettiest CD I've bought all year.

I would expect nothing less from a band that named itself after a BTBAM song.  :neverusethis:

Yeah, if there's one BTBAM song to name yourself after, it's that one. :lol

Now if they named themselves Croakies & Boatshoes or Fossil Genera, on the other hand...

A band who are named after a line in a Counting Crowd song (an actual good band though!).
