I am just discovering this band and can handle the vocals, but would like to hear a music only version.

At least Pelagial and Phanerozoic I have instrumental versions available, as will Phanerozoic II. Looks like you can stream them on Youtube at least.

Thanks, just noticed that when I listened on youtube.  I really like the vocal variety on this album.

Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
Anathema - A Natural Disaster

Praised be. We're lucky to have had this music.

Ayreon - Transitus

Good god, if this were any cheesier it'd take on physical form!
Delightful at times, especially when Marty Friedman took his solo, but a step down from The Source. I'm not feeling the story and don't see myself buying this one.

Holy shit, this album is nucking futs. Power metal done the right way. Easily one of my favorite records of the year, metal or otherwise. I LOVE this, and the one before it kicked ass too. Massive early Helloween, late 90s Edguy power metal vibes. The singer (Tomi Fooler) is one of the best in the genre right now.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

JESUS CHRIST THIS WEEK WAS BUSY

the reticent: this was very good. probably the best one here honestly. opeth-ier than their last one and probably not quite as emotionally strong but very diverse and still very harrowing
the ocean: hhmmm this is pretty underwhelming honestly. doesn't sound very fresh for them. neither as strong or consistent as pelagial nor does it have the highs of the last album
sufjan: this is like a more industrial version of planetarium with way less guitar and orchestra. also a bit too long and it drags a bit in the middle. but there's some good stuff here
svalbard: blackened hardcore is such a natural fusion of genres that i have no clue how it isn't more common. this is a very, very strong example of it. also, i love this cover
obsidian kingdom: better than i expected given the singles. pretty cohesive yet diverse and a lot less boring than their last one tho i am not sold on the vocals fully, yet. cool stuff tho
ayreon: the other big boi today and this was a perfectly acceptable and average ayreon album. that's all
last penance: kind of standard but pretty effective metalcore (NOT DJENT) album, i dunno, it's the least interesting here but not the weakest, dug it a lot
zeit: this is a mathcore sensory overload and one i did not need after so much other music this week but god it's. brutal. relentless. surprisingly melodic. very thankfully short

Literally nobody I know has compared them to Dragonforce except you but I thought you would like it because it is actually big Helloween energy

Also that's literally only 5 Os

Literally

They have a whole album about The Goonies. Listen to The Truffle Shuffle Army and tell me that isn't 100% Helloween. And yes everyone knows the names are stupid and childish

I'm really looking forward to spinning the new Reticent album.

It's not on the streaming platform I use so I went ahead and blindly ordered that one and On the Eve of a Goodbye from his official site just based on how good On the Eve of a Goodbye was. Got a download link too, gonna spin it this weekend.

Thanks Tim!

No but it's a bit complicated. My mobile operator plan doesn't count traffic from the Yandex.Music streaming platform but it does count traffic from YouTube.

And I guess I wanted to have the physical copies and to support the guy, too.

Pelagial, Phanerozoic I, and Phanerozoic II all have instrumental versions. Definitely worth a try, since there's quite a lot going on instrumentally that you would otherwise maybe not pick up.

IMHO, Phanerozoic II is the best of the lot, followed by Pelagial and then Phanerozoic I. But I think they're all excellent

Decent. Some very good songs but it’s a long one so needs a few more listens.

Today

ManOwaR - Into Glory Ride, Hail To England

KISS - Asylum, Hotter Than Hell

Judas Priest - Turbo

Coney Hatch - Outta Hand

DT - BC&SL
