My thoughts on the albums I listened to tonight:
Rush - A Farewell to Kings
Pretty solid album overall! I will admit that I found Closer to the Heart, Cinderella Man, and Madrigal to be rather forgettable, but A Farewell to Kings, Xanadu, and Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage really make up for it. I feel as though Rush tends to sound the same a lot (based on the songs I've heard from them thus far) but there are a lot of interesting moments to be found here.
Rush - Hemispheres
These are first impressions, but I'll get a controversial opinion out of the way: Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres is my least favorite out of the four songs on this album. It's a good song, but it just feels like a normal Rush song, and in comparison to Cygnus X-1 Book I, it felt less interesting. The rest of the album was quite good, though! La Villa Strangiato is my favorite out of the four. So overall, it's a very solid album.
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)
What an amazing album! Every single song is fantastic (except The Pin Drop, but I have a feeling it'll grow on me). My favorite track is Luminol, but Drive Home and The Raven That Refused To Sing are right behind it. I definitely see why this album gets so much love, and it deserves all the praise it gets. I will absolutely be listening to this one again and again.
