Still ripping highlights from my vinyl collection to FLAC. Yesterday and today I’ve been doing my Cheap Trick albums. These guys might be a bit of a “one trick pony”, but the one thing they do, they do pretty damn well.

One of my favorite albums. Folky bluesy country-ish type stuff, this woman's voice is rich and she's a wonderful guitarist too. Always recommend this to people.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

You know what? The Divinyls first three albums are nothing like “I Touch Myself”.

Reminds me a little bit of the harder edged, “pre-Heart of Glass” Blondie stuff.

I think that's the first time I have seen a non-Aussie mention The Divinyls  :metal    You're right - they were actually fairly heavy early days.  If memory serves correct Mark recently tried to ressurect the band with a new singer and the project included an ex-member of Blondie.

Looks like I Touch Myself was Top 10 in the US..................I never knew.

They were like a weird mix of Blondie and AC/DC early days - even down to Chrissy having the school uniform thing for a while.

I definitely remember I touch myself. And the song too. ;D

Huh. Blondie plus AC/DC? I'm in. Will check that out.

EDIT: I'm listening to 1983's Desperate, and the first song is Boys In Town. I absolutely remember this song.

There's a definite Blondie feel on this, and I love me some early Blondie.

Gas - Pop

Despite the name, not really a pop album, but more like deeply synth-layered ambient with some minimal techno beats. Very immsersive, I could see myself warming up to this.

After listening to the entire album I absolutely remembered “Science Fiction” as a college radio “early new-wave era” minor hit. Now I’ve got that stuck in my head.

And most songs are not much heavier than early Blondie and Pretenders, but there are 1 or 2 cuts that would give AC/DC a run for their money.

EDIT - the co-writer of the last song on that album is George Young.  (Older brother of Angus and Malcolm, and half of the Vanda/Young production duo)

Boys in Town was a big hit too, great song and was always fun to play back in the day in cover bands.

As a young teenager I thought Chrissy was the sexiest thing iut there.  MY she rest in peace.

Science Fiction was another good one.  I only really knew their hits, didn't like them enough to dive into their catalog.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

This vid is a pretty good representation of how I remember The Divinyls growing up.  Chrissy is an Aussie rock legend.

They even did the melodic rock thing late 80's - I always enjoyed this one

They were a one hit wonder in the UK as far as I remember, but it was a good one.
And yes, I would

Can't say the songs are doing it for me on the live vid.

Probably my favorite hip hop album. The beats are fantastic.

It’s pretty great, but I think the beats on 3 are better so definitely check it out if you like 2.

I love this thread because of all the sick album art out there.

Spell - Opulent Decay: it's like a trippy mix of Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath.

I’ve been listening to A LOT of albums I’ve never heard before because I’ve spent the last few days digitizing highlights from my fairly large vinyl collection. Most of this stuff I purchased for super cheap with the idea that “I’ll get around to it someday.” Well, now I have time.

I’m finally getting around to the several Jethro Tull albums that I have not yet picked up on CD. Many of which I’ve heard very little of. Currently I’m listening to Too Old to Rock-n-Roll, Too Young to Die...which I’ve heard exactly once before.

Any JT fans ever notice that the acoustic riff of Salamander is identical to Cold Wind to Valhalla?

Yup, they're very similar, both - and others - stemming from the Mother Goose blueprint.

TOTRnR,TYTD is a fantastic album
