Maybe a Flotsam and Jetsam listening party next Tim.  One band I've never checked out.  That cover is aweseome too.

Always meant to check out Vio-lence.  Being a Machine Head fan, I don't know why I haven't.

So I just checked, and, uh, you are one of the two who haven't sent.

Wilderun - Sleep at the Edge of the Earth
Mixture of clean and harsh vocals.  The album flows so well.

I'm listening to this 2020 release:

I didn't think it was possible to sound like Blaze Bayley AND Tobias Sammet but this guy pulls it off. :lol

This is really nice. I've never heard of them before. I see they have a good sized discog. I might have to dig in.

I haven't heard any of the new stuff from Ivanhoe , but I have generally found them disappointing over the years.

Their two best regarded albums seem to be Polarized and Lifeline (the only two I have) , so perhaps start there.   I recall Polarized has Andy Franck on vocals , who went on to be in Brainstorm/Almanac etc...

TAC

I've made it halfway through this one. It's definitely pleasant enough.

Stadler

I bought a copy of the "Living The Dream" live CD from Slash and Myles.  I saw the show (front row) and was blown away by it That show alone elevated him into the pantheon of greats, for me.  Just watching the control he has over his instrument, and how he can play so many subtly different things over the course of a two hour show.

The CD is everything that the actual show was.  It's got it's moments (there's a little bit of cliche with the various "Put your fucking hands together for fucking MOTORHEAD!" and "I love this fucking guy!" moments) but the music is solid as a rock.  Great setlist (not identical, but close to what I saw) with a perfect balance of the various Slash solo albums and token G'n'R song (Nighttrain) all played stupendously.  I'm going to revisit this one a lot.

The Walrus

One of the best video game soundtracks out there. So many memorable bangers, and so many unique sounding tracks. I set this song as one of my morning alarms, nothing but choirs.  :heart

LOL, didn't expect to see that here. I'm actually replaying that game right now.

I like the OST for the first game more, tbh. I could maaaaybe say the same for X as well, but that one's all over the fucking place. :lol

I haven't played 1 or X (I bought 2 on a whim and was so happy I did), so I'm waiting for the remastered version of 1 to drop next month. :D

Be excited! It's the best of the three by a long shot, IMO.

Portishead - Third

Such a bleak and sad album.

I, also, did not find it very interesting. I only listened to the first two tracks and then read that everyone thought those were the best tracks, which............ not convincing me to go listen to the rest

To dig this comment up now that the album's sunk in a bit more, I think I can safely say that the first song is my least favorite, and that the second half of the album is generally stronger than the first. You probably won't be amazed by it if you were that indifferent to the beginning, but hey, it does get better IMO.

Crow

i don't think i'm even interested in the style of PRR tbh, which is probably the biggest issue. i need to be interested in something to be excited about checking it out  :lol

Buddyhunter1

Their previous album was very good but god damn are the vocals on this one hot garbage...

Crow

lol yeah i have no clue what happened, but i didn't even care for the last album that much anyways, i didn't even finish this one

Buddyhunter1

I also did a double-take at the start of the last song because it almost directly pilfers the guitar intro from Anathema's Thin Air :lol

Their concerts are a brutal, energetic, and sweat soaked basket of fun! Brann Dailor is a fucking octopus.

Good album there.

Uraya/Gormott/Mor Ardain are amazing tracks. The night versions as well.
