Stuff I played over the weekend that came out last week, in reverse order
1. Serious Black - Suite 226 (sucks)
2. Dan Deacon - Mystic Familiar (interesting since I'm familiar with the name, but, not sure I'll go back to this - thick, busy electronic sound, though)
3. Mobius - Kalas (djenty prog with Indian musical flavor. awesome stuff)
4. Big Scenic Nowhere - Vision Beyond Horizon (huge Sabbath worship here. interesting sound, good tunes, but not blowing me away)
5. Thematic - Skyrunner (big fun epic prog rock/metal with nice clean vocals and only a very few rough/harsh vocals. I hear tons of modern bands in this group, really hard to describe, need to hear it, I recommend it)
6. Invictus - Eden (instrumentally solid heavy metal. vocals ruin it though. not one great song on it)
7. ShadowQuest - Gallows of Eden (has a few awesome major key double bas drumming Helloween-style power metal songs - the rest are forgettable)
8. Lil Wayne - Funeral (uhh actually has a few songs I like, miraculously, but... yeah not gonna revisit most of it)
9. Dustbowl Revival - Is It You, Is It Me (WOW, best album of the lot in my opinion, was not expecting to enjoy this country-ish, Americana, roots-y, bluegrass-tinged, soul-and-pop-inspired record. my only complaint is the super political gun violence song, other than that, spectacular)
10. Monolithe - Okta Khora (doomy metal feat. saxophones. a couple filler tracks imo but mostly awesome)
11. Serenity - The Last Knight (standard prog-power metal, slightly better than most of what I've heard this year but still nothing to write home about)
12. Deathwhite - Grave Image (heavier Katatonia with more energy, me gusta mucho)
Still have 7 more to check out
