I'm really enjoying the new Thy Catafalque, and that's coming from someone who thought Geometria was one of the worst albums to come out in the year it did (2018?)

Digging this so far.  Heavier and more interesting than Dust and Disquiet.

Arion - Last of Us
Arion - Life is Not Beautiful

actually just played both albums together with the songs in alphabetical order, since the songs are mostly short, this is a nice two album punch of melodic metal  :metal

Damn, that's harsh. :lol
I didn't think it was great either, but it was at least a light 6/10 for me

Dir En Grey - The Insulated World

I definitely underrated this album a bit when it came out in 2018. It's pretty great.

This is a 2 hour concept record that I was not expecting going in, so that didn't help my perception of this. Fans of heady sci-fi futuristic themed progressive rock would enjoy this. The narration and dialogue is actually pretty good, however, the music itself... the lyrics frankly suck and the melodies aren't memorable and it's 2 freaking hours long! I equate it to a random movie you take a chance on and don't think is bad but you don't think you'll ever watch again. Can't all be winners but I do think some light prog rock fans would dig it because there are a bunch of nice musical passages but they're all over the place

what is it

Unreqvited - Mosaic II: La Déteste Et La Détresse

2 tracks in; production blows but I guess you could call it atmospheric black metal? Other than that gripe it's kinda cool so far. But I just got done listening to a 4-song EP with Unreqvited and some artist called Sylvaine called Time Without End and all 4 tracks were beautiful and better produced than this. It also wasn't metal, very ambient instrumental stuff but it was awesome.

I have a friend who posts a massive list of new releases each week and this is one I just picked at random and took a chance on. Definitely seems like your kinda music  :lol

edit: nvm tracks 3 and 4 don't really sound like your music anymore

Dirty Shirley - s/t  :metal best thing George Lynch has done since the 2nd Lynch Mob album. Sounds like I’ve damned it with faint praise but it’s a very good album.

So I guess this band's been around for 50 years but this is the first time I've ever heard their music. I really like this. It's like old school prog rock but it sounds modern, definitely doesn't sound like a band that's been around for so long. Dig it!

The problem with The Wall for me is that the visuals are so much of the experience for me, whether that's from the movie or the live show. So listening to just the album by itself feels like I'm only getting a fraction of the experience.

Frigoris - ...in Stille
Atmospheric black metal.

Digging it. I am really, really into this style, because it seems to blend harsh vocals and heavy sections with gorgeous clean/soft parts. Most stuff in this vein that I've heard I've really enjoyed
