honestly i'm a bit mixed on it, the two song i sent i think are pretty good but a lot of it is kinda bog-standard or even sloppy at times too. i remember liking it in 2015 when i got it though, i might need to revisit it

from me:

(moon tooth - crux)

i first listened to this when it dropped and i hated it but rn it's like. kinda cool? it's technical hard rock however much sense that makes & while i'm not sold on the style there's a few songs here that are kinda cool. not sure if i'll follow up though

(pup - morbid stuff)

one of the things i've gotten out of list season, primarily pop-punk but with heavy post-hardcore influence. i'm not 100% sold on the vocals but the hooks are strong and it's a pretty diverse record for being sub-40 minutes too

I thought the instrumentation was really good. Dream Theaterish in spots.  The only song I didn't care for was one of the first ones with mostly harsh vocals, but the rest was really good. Got it Saved and will revisit it again. Might be purchase worthy.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

(scarlet stories - necrologies)

i dunno... i can't really get into this one. the song i was sent in my roulette is still great but the album as a whole feels... well, the guitar leads are impressive but otherwise it feels like a direct sequel to the 2018 Oceans of Slumber album in that it generally feels a bit samey with none of the melodies really popping and more focus on the vocals at the expense of interesting music, and also it's too long and. ugh. i've tried but it's just not doing it for me

New album from the Tygers. Really hits the spot with their classic sound.
Great Tribulation album. They have such a unique and captivating style.

Avant-Garde-ish Black Metal blended with Mathcore. Interesting sound. Almost like Krallice meets Conjurer. Has some Venenum vibes in places too.

looks like i already tried and failed to listen to this one so actually i'm not gonna go back and revisit it, i don't think

i did go and check out some snippets of a few songs real quick and my takeaway is that the production is really muddy and bass-heavy in a way that i hate and so no wonder i didn't like it, really

(kitsune - nothing makes me happy anymore)

to be clear there is at least some part of me that just inherently wants to like & is biased towards an artist named kitsune. but also i like this blend of post-hardcore with a few more technical elements, it doesn't go as far with it as some other bands i've heard but they still do a solid job of it & the snappy & catchy songwriting helps a lot too

(in human form - iii)

one of those avant garde-y black metal projects from i, voidhanger and it's... good, but I feel similar to this as I did Epectase, and kinda already learned my lesson with that one; namely, that I can kinda enjoy this sound but it never really fully grabs me/gets me invested. i think this is a solid attempt at it regardless though & having the sax in spots is cool too, but the two main tracks mostly feel a bit meandering and unfocused, the shorter track is nice and has some cool soloing but it's basically just an interlude at the end of the day. and the production's not quite right for me either. it's just all-around decent to good but not great

Some more roulette follow up:

Rich sent two songs from this in Round 1. Kade also sent them in R1, but from an earlier album. I thought I'd start with this.
I must say, this is absolutely incredible. Really amazing. I feel a purchase coming.

Get the special edition with the DVD.  It has the band performing the whole album live in the studio.  It's amazing.

Can't get enough of this album.  By far their greatest album IMO.

First time listening to a full album by these guys but really enjoyed it.  Loved the vocals.

Wonderful old school, straight up metal.

Black Sabbath meets Dio meets Candlemass.  What a find, what a metal album.  Brilliant, check it out.

This was an interesting listen. For my tastes, much of the record is a bit too much of a love letter to Blackwater Park. Where it deviates from the old Opeth formula is where it gets interesting. The more rockin' beats along with the doom/death melody/vocals is startling...in a good way. Yields of Sand probably caught my attention the most. I'll have another listen later.

This kind of fits my mood this morning because I'm going for a cystoscopy in about three hours.  :lol
