That Twisted tribute record has a killer version of "You Can't Stop Rock And Roll" by Sebastian Bach and Friends (the band itself sans Dee).

The Dark Element - Songs the Night Sings
Turilli/Lione Rhapsody - Zero Gravity (Rebirth and Evolution)
Voyager - Colours in the Sun
Babymetal - Metal Galaxy

been getting lots of new 2019 music in my ears this week.  I don't know how to rank all these with the mix of everything else Ive listened to this year.

Colours in the Sun is a fun album.  :metal

Indeed.  Been listening somewhat regularly since it came out.  Good summer album to get you through the winter months.  :metal

Listening so far today:

Toundra: II, III
Russian Circles: Station
Voyager: Colours in the Sun

God damn. I don't think many people on this board are into Hypno5e, I'm probably their biggest fan on here by far.. :lol

But I imagine Sleep Token would be interesting for many people, they've grown super fast over the last 1-2 years, they mix pop/indie with alternative metal. This record has the same problem that Melancholia Hymns by Arcane Roots had for me at first, it's all over the place, but after some time I'm sure I will get used to it. The transitions here are definitely more random though especially Give into Gods into Sugar.. but it's fucking great. Gods is definitely their heaviest song ever :metal and Blood Sport may become their best song ever over time

FKA twigs - Magdalene

Very good. I hear some Björk and some Kate Bush.

Better than very good. One of the best albums of the year and probably decade as well.

I think this year has been/will be my favorite year of the decade music-wise.
I'm so addicted to this

Yeah this is very different to Norman Fucking Rockwell, and not really in a good way. Like, the instrumentation is pretty fine, but the vocals are mediocre, sometimes downright annoying and forced.

Three thoughts:

- that Lightning Bolt cover is bad ass times two.
- why do I feel like "Michael Harris:  Orchestrate II: Rage and Restraint" has very little of the latter?  :)
- there's something about the Lana Del Rey vibe that is really.... creepy for me, and I can't put my finger on it.

that one is cool too IMHO.
DT: D/T (the PBD wank section is on now, my favourite section on the album, that one and Morricone, although D/T has become the Mangini era album I listen to the least to be honest)

I don't know why it took me so long to check this one out, but damn it's such a nice album. Very ambient without feeling over-produced or too layered, warm and soft, and subtly catchy. Kind of an art / ambient pop record, but a very relaxing one.

I checked out some Sleep Token and was really impressed.  It’s kinda post metal r&b?  Regardless, it’s one of the more unique and interesting combinations I’ve heard lately.

Definitely some R&B in there, but then also one full-on metalcore song. The album is all over the place but really enjoyable! Hypno5e is really worth checking out if the tag ‘cinematic progressive metalcore’ intrigues you
