Yeah, that Paradox is way more intense and thrashy than the others.  :metal

I would assume you are talking about the Garth Brooks album, but you might want to check the KISS tribute lineup first.  In a sense he belongs in this group more than any of the others.

Alter Bridge: Walk The Sky (which I just got, I like it quite a bit, as every Alter Bridge album, worth listening to IMHO)

I'm also currently listening to Alter Bridge - Walk the Sky

The songwriting's good, but goodness the production is SO bad. The gain on everything is pushed so loud and things are audibly distorting that should not be distorting. Also the drums are way too forward in the mix, especially the kick. I don't think I'm going to ever listen to this more than once.

obsidian tide: i originally saw this as like a midway point between tool and opeth (a la soen but leaning more on the heavier side) but another site also pointed out a cynic comparison that i think is not necessarily wrong. it's a cool prog metal album that is definitely influenced by some other bands but does a lot of stuff of its own too. just not sold on the clean vocals yet, i guess
kora winter: turns out when i listen to this outside of the context of "it sounds like the hirsch effekt" it's actually quite good in its own right, but it's not really trying to do the same thing the hirsch effekt do. good post-hardcore tho for sure. train you shouldn't have showed me this early it's perfect for the foreign language post-hardcore bonus point

Really getting into the Obsidian Tide album.  Obvious Tool influence, but like how they expand later in the album.  Some really good bass work.  Thanks for posting!

Why not? I said countless times that I don't care about roulette rankings / scores, I simply want to share good music, so I'm happy you like it! Coriolis is one of my favourite songs of the year. Yeah it doesn't sound much like The Hirsch Effekt, obviously I said that to draw you in (and fair enough, they do have kind of a math meets post-hardcore sound and that 'attitude' that I feel THE shares similarities with).

Me? I'm just listening to random shit all the time. Lately I've been really into the new Tides From Nebula, Clipping. and Pangaea, White Ward and Dreamarcher albums, and the new Cult of Luna is finally growing a bit on me after disliking it for months. New Chronicles is okay, but a little bit too much Protest The Hero worship to sound original.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.
