Haha - not really. I haven't been posting covers in here much lately (or listening much) but felt a need to post that one. As jj said it's old school stuff with a vocalist that has the style right but lacks a bit of power.

Skelator have actually been around a while and have some pretty decent songs. On this album my two favourite songs were the last two , so if you want to check it out start there.

I'm listening to this now. It is quite intriguing.

I think I'm more amazed that we have TAC listening to and exploring stuff in black metal

I think I'm more amazed that we have TAC listening to and exploring stuff in black metal That's what roulette's will do to you, introduce you to all kinds of music you never thought you would be in to.

Just to add to this, I think this has a very Saor-like quality to it. I really like the music and the emotions it evokes in me, but it does tend to be a little samey as it goes on. Not that any of it is bad though.

Harsh vocals are still quite hit and miss for me. Black Metal is kind of samey anyway it seems.

I'm giving this a second listen tonight, and I'm still liking it.
I find the music to be quite opposite to the harsh vocals. I think it works great. The spoken word parts are also pretty cool.

Reminded tonight of what an absolutely stellar album The Black Halo is. The band is just firing on all cylinders, songwriting is excellent, and I think Roy Khan's vocal performance has to be one of my favorite ever. He's just so spectacularly expressive.

I'd definitely say one of a few that decisively transcends the genre. Like, even if you're not a power metal fan, it should probably still a recognizably fantastic album.
