Been listening to some of my ProgPower albums today:

Evergrey - The Atlantic
Pretty Maids - Kingmaker
Galneryus - Under the Force of Courage

and since it seems likely I'll see Geoff Tate tomorrow night,

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

That's a pretty decent bunch of albums 🤘

Finally got around to spinning the Allegaeon release from April, Apoptosis, and man, this thing has some serious AOTY potential on it. Good lord what a kick ass album beginning to end.

Yeah, they've had some brilliant moments in their earlier albums, but they brought it all together here like motherfucking Voltron man. :metal

Love 'The Hunter'

I am currently going thru the band Lonestar mentioned Allegaeon.  Currently listening to the album 'Proponent For Sentience' and loving the variety on this album.

Just got thru this album and what a cool version of Rush's song Subdivisions!

One of the only truly incredible symphonic power metal records of the last decade. I wrote off the band because of their first album - sounded too hokey jokey to me, although I was very cynical at the time and should probably revisit it. This album (their second) is simply phenomenal however. The orchestrations actually sound cinematic and even the production on the music video for Flight of the Sapphire Dragon is pretty good. The melodic phrasings are outstanding (the epic choruses of Sapphire Dragon and There And Back Again for example), and Christian has what I believe to be a top tier power metal voice. Man, I regret not seeing this band live, especially now that Christian's gone. I think this album is going to age very well for me. This, good. Gloryhammer, bad. IMO. The production is a bit iffy but the brilliance of the composition makes up for it to some small degree.
