this got posted in the friday releases thread so i checked it out and liked it and relistening to it now, yeah, this is way up my alley in terms of prog metal. kind of tool-ish but not as "polished" as tool tends to sound and the vocals are a bit different too. i dig it though

New album from Talk Talk's bassist. It's surprisingly proggy - like a mix of late David Bowie with some Robert Wyatt. Has some Canterbury Scene vibes too. Pretty nice so far.

Spinning Arcane Roots - Melancholia Hymns a lot too which is actually as good as ariich said it was I can't believe I slept on this when it first dropped

mmm very melodic & progressive tech death
lots of nice bass, some flamenco guitar influences, apparently it's lyrically inspired by full metal alchemist
i am pretty on board with this, tho i think it runs a bit long for how dense it is

Album of the year so far for me...

Saw them live on tuesday supporting The Pineapple Thief in Stockholm. Wow....wow... wow on both accounts. Amazing show.

Met Pat Mastellotto (O.R.k, King Crimson and more...) after the show and had a little chat with him.... very nice man, and a great drummer.

Been a huge fan of 7D since right before Animosity came out. My first editor introduced me to Home, and a month later Animosity dropped. Been a hardcore ever since!
