Porcupine Tree - Fear of a blank planet.

Album feels short since it only has 6 tracks but man is it good. Gonna listen to Deadwing next.

Speaking of 'riff bible'! I got introduced to this album a week ago:


The riffs are out of this world man, can't believe I never looked past Ashes of the Wake and Sacrament. Any LoG fan here that can recommend me the next album?

I agree that Wrath is an amazing album but for me it's their last great one. I REALLY didn't like Resolution. Sturm Und Drang was better but the golden era, for me, is the album run from AotW to Wrath. Those three are great. If I was you I'd work backwards and listen to As the Palaces Burn next  :metal even if only for Ruin,  11th Hour and Vigil  :metal

it's a good record but not one of my faves of 2018. the production is kind of bleh at points and there's a few songs that are pretty meh  :lol



pretty solid mostly instrumental post-metal, some strings and stuff, it's not amazing or anything but i like it well enough

Still need a few more listens. I feel like I should like it more than I do at this point, which is a strange feeling. I'm sure I'll get around to digging it, but it's been a slow burn for me so far. It feels less memorable than some of their other stuff to me, even though I very much enjoy it whenever I listen to it.

Considering their back catalogue, Imaginary Soniscape and Hangman's Hymn are my favourites out of the ones that you don't know yet. In Somniphobia is the best they've done imo, and Scenes from Hell and Graveward are super fun as well. The only album that I'm not too keen on that I know is Gallow's Gallery.

Still haven't checked out their first cycle. I should get around to doing that. (In case you didn't know, the first letters of each of their albums spell out Sigh on a loop. For example, this cycle is Scenes from Hell - In Somniphobia - Graveward - Heir to Despair).
