Very interesting, quirky and eclectic indie folk pop. Sounds like a more restrained The Decemberists, with some similarities to Sufjan Stevens.

Thoughts on the Frontiers special Brent. I thought it was solid in places and dire in others. Vocals are excellent as you would expect.

How did Costranova end up a drummer with a voice like that?

I pretty much concur.    I thought the first single "Through" was the best example of them getting something like their own sound with the joint vocals but for the most part they produce a result that is no more (probably less) than the sum of the parts so I can't see the point.   I'd rate the opening 4 tracks maybe an 8/10 and the rest of the album a 6/10.  It's just more of the same old same old from Frontiers in the song writing department .  And not sure why they had to cover "Need You Now" - I haven't managed to figure out who the female vocal was there either.

So yeah.........one or two tracks I might return to but otherwise rather forgettable

I had to look up what Traincore is. I'm glad I did because it led me to something called Duckcore.

Anthony Fantano's reviews are so arbitrary lol, he pretty much dislikes this album for the exact same reasons that he believes Sunbather is one of the best metal records of the decade. Never understood all of the love Sunbather gets, can already tell from the first listen that this one is better.

LLNN: FFO: Lo! :neverusethis: but seriously Rapture has some of the most intense metal instrumentation and thickest guitar riffs man, crazy stuff
Biti Bam: One of the best releases of the year, apart from Millions and The Grid everything has sunken in and I'm really starting to dig this thing as one album instead of 2 separate discs.
Ancestors: Not as hype as the lead single off their upcoming album (The Warm Glow) but the album cover is fucking cool and the music is I guess average to good doom/post-metal, which is probably not really good enouh for me to give it more spins.

@train oh fantano is one of the worst music critics on the internet for sure, he has incredibly strong biases & no understanding of most of the genres he loves to regularly piss on, i don't take any of his reviews or scores seriously

that being said i wasn't super into the new deafheaven but it was alright
