I enjoy me some Electric Wizard but I don't understand some of the hype I've seen, over the years, for Dopethrone. It's fine but it's not the be all and end all that some people make it out to be.
I'm very new to stoner metal, so I don't know if there are better things to listen to, but this album is considered one of the top in the genre. I enjoy every second of it. It is not the kind of sound you can listen to anytime you want. You need the right mood for it. I still have to try to listen to this album while smoking pot.
I like to listen to stoner/doom a fair bit but I'm no expert on the subject. I think I just heard that this album was considered one of the seminal albums of the genre but I was a bit underwhelmed when I heard it. I prefer Witchcult Today and Black Masses.
I know Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley and Sleep - Dopesmoker are two of the most important stoner metal records. First just pure
tunes, the second one is a colossal songs, ode to weed, lasting around than an hour, slow riff after slow riff, not something to listen to every day. Boris have two stoner albums with some punk speed and ferocity, Pink and Heavy Rocks, great albums too. Beyond these, I know very little of the genre
