Part of my post-roulette listening, trying to follow up mostly with artists sent in the most recent roulette while sprinkling in some other stuff I'm exploring. Turns out today is all Caravan Palace, courtesy of ariich. I'm almost done with the second album Panic and am digging it. I'm not quite finding anything on first listen that hits me the same way as songs like Dragons and Suzy do on the first record, but it's quite nice regardless and something new and refreshing to listen to.

Shut up, TAC.  :lol

Yes! Love me some Caravan Palace. I've been a little obsessed with the song Wonderland recently. Caravan Palace, to me, just take me back to great festival experiences, dancing with my wife and having a great time. They are still my 'go to' if I want to put something on both my wife and I will enjoy.

Luke, Wonderland is one of my favorites!

This morning is full of 2020 releases:
- The Weeknd: After Hours
- BPMD: American Made
- Norah Jones: Pick Me Up Off The Floor
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

The second album from a pretty decent Dream Theater clone band called Thoughts Factory.  The album is called Elements and it definitely shows some signs of a slight sophomore slump on the first listen.

Snake in My Boot?!  :rollin

I can't help but think of

My python boot is too tight
I couldn't get it off last night
A week went by, and now it's July
I finally got it off
And my girlfriend cry
"You got stink-foot!"

Our debut album "Eläimys" is a trip I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone into Pain of Salvation, Opeth, The Mars Volta, Magma etc.

am i the only one not really feeling this at all
the production is weird, especially the guitar sound just... feels really... i dunno how to describe it, muffled? like coated in a layer of styrofoam or something. it sounds really similar to the first aseitas album from a few years back, whose guitar sound i didn't like either
but the songwriting also just feels really prog-death by numbers. like there's an acoustic bit in invitation that's literally just an opeth ripoff. the songs are mostly focused around, of all things, harmonized clean vocals it feels like. not a lot of melody or riffage just texture under vocals. i dunno. nothing about it feels particularly inspired. none of it is -bad- either just i cannot imagine getting excited about it
yet this is getting a really positive reception from what i've seen. am i the weird one here?

Is this their only record? If so I will probably visit this very soon. I know they didn't do so hot in my roulette but that was relative to the competition, I'm actually kind of curious how the whole record sounds.

I'm intrigued by the cover and the fact that it is a debut by a relatively new indie band. I might check it out.
