Paradise Lost - Oblivion (didn't like this)
Fish On Friday - Black Rain (mellow so far, enjoying it, but it's subdued)

A bit light headed today, Brent?

Very, very little time to listen at the moment (probably the 2nd day this month I have listened to a single song , let alone an album) so going the JJ route and sticking to the "classics".   Also felt like some time travel back to a certain era when my taste happened to be more the melodic rock area.  Need some good memories at the moment  :lol

Actually.............what triggered the Journey choice in particular was reading that Anyway You Want It was inspired by Phil Lynott's writing.

Oh that's quite interesting. I'd be interested in hearing more about that.

From: Open Arms the Steve Perry Anthology - Songbook Interview

John Stix: “Give me a picture of “Anyway You Want It.”

Steve Perry: “It’s from the Departure album. It was inspired by watching Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy, who opened for us on tour (Journey promoting Evolution, Thin Lizzy promoting Black Rose). I loved Phil’s ability and phrasing. This guy is one of the more under-recognized geniuses of that era. He inspired the original seed of the song, which is a guitar/ vocal interchange: she loves to laugh/ guitar riff- she loves to sing/ guitar riff- she does everything/ guitar riff. It grew from there. Phil was a real poet; he was a frightening genius.”

Ah, thank you for that. That makes total sense. Phil Lynott was great and I can totally see that.

Paradise Lost - Obsidian

On first listen, very good and even thru YouTube the sound is great.

After three of four spins over the last days I would say it's great. I loved Paradise Lost during the nineties but kind of lost sight (or interest) in them until I read a few reviews of Obsidian.
Might be my favorite 2020 release so far.  Sound is great, Nick Holmes is in great shape and Gregor's guitar leads are just fantastic.

Also today:
ISIS - Oceanic
Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear
TesseracT- Polaris

Van Halen- 1984

I listened to my 1984 (the year) Spotify playlist on shuffle while mowing the lawn today, and both Top Jimmy and Girl Gone Bad came up.
As awful as I think Jump and Panama are, this album is loaded with strong material.

(Mesarthim - Fragmenting)

i really like the texture and power of the black metal here but I do not like the synths at all, they are just so distracting uuggh

Lor released one of my favorite albums of 2017, and I just found out they released a new EP on Friday. Bought it from Bandcamp immediately. Listening now.

Dude... the synths are AWESOME on this. They make this record. If an ABM band asked me to be their keyboardist, this is exactly the kind of music I would want to make. I love the sounds. This record is kicking my ass. Wonderful stuff.

Also, the name of the record is The Density Parameter; Fragmenting is the last song. :)

Funk/soul/blues rock, debut from Black Pumas from last year. Friend showed me them this morning. Guess they were nominated for a Grammy for best new artist and I can see why. This is an awesome album.

Well, I thought everyone had to like Jump? Unless you're a miserable git that listens to death metal or that morose stuff Tim shared yesterday. 1984 is great from start to finish, apart from the pointless keyboard intro thing that always gets skipped.
