Frayle -  1692

First big surprise of the year: doomy post-metal with female vocals. This could be in my yearlist.

Hey Bentover, are you JJ in disguise? 😀😀😀

Take the Sepultura out of that list and it’s pretty awesome 🤘. Hey Stoopid made my top 50 of all time. Guitar playing is great on that.

I'm really digging the Astrosaur record.  Sounds like dinosaurs in space, which is totally legit to me.  Still wrapping my head around the Sleep Token record.  Sounds like James Blake decided to do djenty tech-death remixes of his material?

*cough*yerblowinmycover*cough* Nothing wrong with hard rock when it's this killer!
Hey Stoopid was the first c-tape I bought with my allowance. I must've been 10 so I've a lot of memories tied to those songs. Agreed on the guitar work; good riffs aplenty and both Stef Burns and Vinnie Moore in particular lay down a few perfect solos.

Quadra is surprisingly good though! Strong, muscular modern metal with a twist. Even Derrick Green sounds fine and shows some much-needed variety on it.

Dio- Lock Up the Wolves

It was a shame that Rowan Robertson pretty much vanished after that album - some of his playing on LUTW is ridiculous.

I listened to In Somniphobia a few times and it had some good parts but it didn't totally win me over. Are there any other albums of theirs that are a must-listen?

Imaginary Sonicscape is their best imo. Really awesome album.

They’re one of my favorite bands, so I think most of their albums are must-listens, but you should start with that one.

Yeah it’s pretty great, especially the title track. My favorite since Hangman's Hymn.
