Yngwie Malmsteen - Marching Out.

So good. One of the best vocal I've ever heard.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Ditto.

I've told the story plenty of times about me hating the JSS songs on Rising Force (at the time) and then being amazed then the "new vocalist" on Marching Out was the same guy - HUGE improvement in his voice in that time.

I knew it was the same guy. It's just that the songs were actually...songs. The vocals were really shoehorned on the 2 tracks on the first album.

Yeah - I agree with that too.  Still reckon his voice developed massively over that time , even allowing for production/songwriting.   I then later heard him totally smooth his voice out on the debut Talisman and again couldn't believe it was the same guy.   At his peak he was amazingly versatile.

I've heard some of the Talismen stuff, though I'm no expert. He has never even approached Marching Out quality as far as I can tell. I'm open to recommendations, of course.

After Malmsteen he went more AOR for the most part and by the time he returned to a hard style (you're right) his voice had "matured" and he's lost some of his range.

Try Fabricated War from the Humanimal album.

I'm on it!

I'm not kidding though. I consider Marching Out damn near close to a TAC Top 5 All Time Vocal performance.

He was past his peak there too but he lets rip a bit at the end.  I have a ridiculous collection of JSS rarities but it's been so long I am having trouble remembering.

He was at his peak late 80s and most of the stuff (apart from the softer stuff he was releasing) is amazing vocally but demo quality when it comes to metal.

There's some amazing "Marching Out" style vocals on these late 80's Kuni songs which are similar era:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWwzCpZI7uM  (awesome live song :lol  )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgOjCN2TmGc

And this Panther demo rips too

I have shitloads of this stuff - like you Marching Out barely left my Walkman for a year and I went on a Soto collecting binge :)

Top left and bottom left are must-listens if a Godflesh meets Nine Inch Nails FFO interests you. Disgustingly heavy industrial metal meets electronica. His artist name is Author & Punisher

Checked out top right because romdrums posted it and it has a cool cover, liking it so far!

Mantar played Full Force festival last weekend, great great traincore album right there

Decent! It didn't hit me that much (yet), but it it's at least one of his solo works that actually has some substance to hold on to.

Big Hath, really like The Anciients.  They should be recording a third album soon.  Lonestar sent me a concert clip on PM some time ago.  Would love to see them live, but they do not tour much out of their home country of Canada.

Evan Carson is the touring drummer for iamthemorning.
On this release he has worked together with Gleb Kolyadin in creating a beautiful and interesting concept album about his grandfathers experiences in Poland during the second world war.

listened to this one, it's fairly alright instrumental stuff but it does feel a bit uninspired and derivative. i wasn't really surprised or captivated by anything on this though i enjoyed all of it well enough. may relisten.
