I must say I absolutely love this track. This is maybe the best ballad I've heard from DT. James' lyrics are beautiful, and the arrangement with the violins along with the piano is simply perfect. Also sets the mood and musical themes very nicely for Breaking All Illusions.

Your thoughts?

Infinite Cactus

It's such a beautiful song. Really great vocal delivery. Wonderful lyrics.

Implode

Great song. It's one of my favorite DT ballads.

Amazing. Love the vibratto in "what you asked of meeeeeee"

BlobVanDam

I really like it. I think it's better than BTS.

Great piano work from JR. Really subtle and exactly what the song calls for. And JLB's vocals are delivered perfectly.

Does anyone wish that they would have connected FFH with BAI instead of leaving a gap between them? I always am bugged by the small (yet significant) wait between them instead of one flowing to the other (i.e. BMUBMD into LNF). Just a thought...

Phoenix87x

Its my second favorite track on the album.

Bertielee

Really great track! Wonderful lyrics and vocals, splendid melody, subtle piano work...For me, the best balld on the album now (but it can change with time. Doubt it though).

Very beautiful track. Love it.

I accidentally read your sig as an actual post and wondered what the hell you were talking about. :lol

I... like it. I don't love it as much as some of James' other lyric pieces. I'd definately rate Anna Lee, Disappear, Vacant and Medicate Me above it right off the bat. That's not to the song's discredit though, it's a lovely little piece and Jordan should be given kudos for writing his equivalent to Wait For Sleep at long last. He did it justice.

The Letter M

I agree with the others, FFH is also my second favorite track, behind BAI.

I kind of agree. They shouldn't have alided musically, but a little less of silence in between would have been a bit better.

Do what I did...

1-Edit FFH so that it stops at exactly 3:49
2-Turn "repeat" off on your media player/ipod
3-Tada! One full song!

I almost always listen to it like this, and as one complete song, it is a friggen epic experience!

senecadawg2

It is beautiful, but it almost requires the accompaniment of BAI. Alone I think it is the weaker of three ballads.

Dcrupi

Need to listen more before being sure, but it might be one of my all time favorite DT ballads.  Incredible on the first listen.

theseoafs

One of the album's top tracks. Listening to Far From Heaven and Breaking All Illusions together is an incredible experience, but the ballad holds up very well on its own.

CrimsonSunrise

edit - was thinking of Lost not forgotten :)

Captainchaos204

Amazing track.. i need to learn how to play it on piano now.. I got Wait for Sleep down :P.. now for this one

FFH is a really beautiful song, and I think that it's going to be overlooked a bit (which wouldn't be surprising). JLB's lyrics are really good, and I love JR's performance on the piano.

I sat down a bit earlier today and got the main chords down I think.. always fun to learn by ear, especially when I'm crap at piano  ;D

Jamesman42

Song hit me with how good it is today. Holy fuck. Really awesome, and moved up above LNF now in my rankings.

The Letter M

Has anyone else followed up on the lyrics and their connection to the film of the same name? Reading the synopsis of the film, the lyrics make more sense, and while they may have some specific connections to the film, they're broad enough to encompass many situations/people, which is what makes it really beautiful to me.

I really hope DT play this in the fall, and immediately play "Breaking All Illusions" following it. In fact, it would be the perfect "new song encore", playing FFH/BAI together!

I hope it is ok to post on this old topic. I am not that educated in board etiquette.
So, this is my 2nd favorite album and I am a newer fan - 2 years. Somehow I wasn't clicking with this song until today.  And then, because I am stuck at my desk all day... I found an interview about ADTOE. JLB says that this song is about a child who cant live up to the parents expectations. My teen son has depression, and it made me wonder what, if any role did I play. My heart hurts when I hear this song now. It's ok, but now this song has a permanent imprint.  It really is so beautiful.  This Band.  :heart
