Honestly I've only given Shiny Eyed Babies 1 listen, so it may end up my favorite....maybe.

it took a few listens to grow on me but then i ended up loving it. there's like, one or two tracks that are not "pretty dang good" and a few that are "holy cow awesome" and it's just such a colorful and consistent record overall, it's really cool

onviously ariich sent Jeff Buckley
Incorrect. But that was one of the other albums I'd been considering, so still a good guess!

Catch Without Arms is good, though I would have sent (and was considering) TPTPTD as that's even better.

I'm not a big fan of DGM to be honest. Heard a song here and there, and they just don't click with me.

Risky choice with Echoes, Chad, I think this might be chucked under "boring progressive metal" category by our host.

This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

The only artist on this list I'm familiar with at all is Queen. Lethean and I have discussed DGM before and I've heard their very early albums but that was MANY years ago.

I will say I am pleasantly surprised by one of these albums so far and I haven't heard anything I dislike yet, but I'm only halfway through the first round of listening

Well, the song "Grace" is simply beautiful.  I can take or leave "Hallelujah"; probably the most over-rated song of all time, ever, but the rest of the album is really well done.

It's easy to dislike; the aforementioned Hallelujah, the critical hipster-ness of the acclaim, the tragic death (so he didn't have to follow it up), etc. but I got "Grace" in a roulette and ended up getting the album on eBay for about $2.00 and it was well worth it.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks Hallelujah is easily the worst song on the album.

It can't possibly be more overrated than Stairway to Heaven or any number of other classic rock hits.

Oh, no, it is, trust me.  When you've got Kate McKinnon singing it on SNL as an elegy to the LOSING candidate in a Presidential election, and/or the outgoing Obama Administration, it's over-played.

Even Cohen says it (all this is quoting from Wikipedia):  In an April 2009 CBC Radio interview, Cohen said he found the number of covers of his song "ironic and amusing", given that his record label refused to release it when he first wrote it; however, he then claimed the song could benefit from a break in exposure: "I was just reading a review of a movie called Watchmen that uses it and the reviewer said – "Can we please have a moratorium on 'Hallelujah' in movies and television shows?" And I kind of feel the same way...I think it's a good song, but I think too many people sing it."   Conversely, in early 2012, while promoting his then-current album, Old Ideas, Cohen stated he wasn't tired of the song being covered: "There's been a couple of times when other people have said can we have a moratorium please on "Hallelujah"? Must we have it at the end of every single drama and every single Idol? And once or twice I've felt maybe I should lend my voice to silencing it but on second thought no, I'm very happy that it's being sung."  But even that acknowledges it's pervasiveness.

They probably don't with a lot of people.  But I've played that album a lot and always enjoy coming back to it.  They're also a great live band, which I know isn't relevant to this, just my 2 cents.

I will say, FW, that when I met them, they all struggled with their English.  So, you're not going to listen to me, but I would suggest not reading along to the lyrics.:p  I don't think they're bad - they get the job done - but if you just sit there and read them... they word some things awkwardly.

I don't think so. Based on the standings, I think K-lox is under the impression that J-Boy is someone important around here and is obviously favoring him.

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
