Two thrash landmark records. Which one do you like better?

RiP all the way for me!

Rust In Peace, no contest.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

Definitely Puppets. I love RIP but songs like MoP, Battery, and Orion were so far beyond what Megadeth ever created it’s just not even close.

I think I probably like Rust just a shade more.  But Puppets was so influential in getting me into thrash in the first place and is such a seminal album that I have a really hard time not voting for it.  Presently undecided.  I shall come back later...

Master of Puppets. Rust in Peace is nearly flawless, but Master of Puppets IS flawless.

Definitely RIP. Metallica is the better band, but RIP might even be better than Metallica's best albums, so definitely better than Master of Puppets.

Still not close.  Of course, you could put Rust in Peace up against Celine Dion's greatest hits, and I'd still not vote for RiP.

MoP, I just like Metallica (especially 80s Metallica) better than MD.  RIP could compete with the bottom half of the Metallica discography, but not going to win, for me, against the top Metallica albums.

Puppets. But RiP has the best opening punch with Holy Wars and Hangar 18. But Puppets is a better overall record.

As I just said in the DT side, RiP doesn't do much for me. Awesome beginning and ending but not much in between. MoP all the way.

RiP isn’t even the best Megadeth album...Puppets by far.

Puppets, easily. It could've been a closer contest if Mustaine was a better vocalist at the time.

Rust in Peace by miles. Master of Puppets is great and all (and it's surely a legendary and highly influential metal record) but is marred by all the horrible Kirk Hammet soloing. Rust in Peace, on the other hand, is elevated by the amazing lead playing, courtesy of Marty Friedman.

I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Puppets for me. While I respect Megadeth and Mustaine, I couldn't get into them as much as I did Metallica. For MOP people like to highlight the title track and Battery. However, it's an incredible album all the way through. I have a lot of love for Disposable Heroes and The Thing That Should Not Be.

Looks like RiP is going 0-2 in recent polls. Maybe next time, put it up against a Coldplay album or something.

I've always wondered what kind of band Metallica would have been if Mustaine had remained. No disrespect to Hammett. I like Metallica better than Megadeth and we have some great records from both bands. The "what if" lingers in my mind now that all these guys are in their mid 50's.

Because those two polls are complete and utter useless content, I bet every single person on this forum could tell which of the two would win before seeing the results if Rust in Peace is matched against Dream Theater's and Metallica's most beloved albums. A lot of the polls by this user are very biased by the way, sometimes lowkey bashing whichever option he prefers the least in the original post.

While I'm part of the (not shockingly significant) group that finds most of the polls in GMD to be excessive and misplaced, there are definitely a couple interesting ones. This one is not part of those.

LOL. Sure, but if the egos were put aside and they stayed together, what would Metallica have been? Better? Worse? I'd like to think that they would have been an unstoppable force in metal music.

Better maybe to hardcore thrash fans. But that’s it.

Enter Sandman would have never been written and Metallica wouldn’t be the monsters of rock they are now.

Master of Puppets, very narrowly. They're both good albums, but I tend to come back to Master of Puppets more often.
