There are two songs I like better then the rest, then 5 middle of the pack cool songs and two I don't like a little less right now. Let's start with the one in the middle.

It comes from the band I heard of before but somehow never checked out. I have to admit it is a bit less heavy than I expected it to be, always though this band is heavy af. In reality, it is very emotional, atmosphere-driven song with some chuggy riffs. I like all of that and the fact it's really progressive, getting new layers as the song goes on. At first, I found singer's voice a bit bland and flat but it works well, provide some emotional weight to the song. My favorite part of the song is the ending, when the keys and that atmospheric guitar kick in, really great stuff.
It's The Contortionist - Return To Earth sent by LordCost. Congrats, you're in round 2 :tup

They were indeed super heavy.. with the old vocalist. Exoplanet is one of those albums and its my favourite, Flourish is like deathcore with a post-rock section in the middle and its fuckinh amazing.

As in Train's roulette, middle of the pack and announced as first  :tup
I'm not a fan of their new album apart some songs which are really good. The Language is a great album and my favourite of them. First two albums are heavier with more harsh than clean vocals for what I know, but I haven't listened to them.

As I said, I heard of this band before and I heard comparisons with that other band. And I kinda hear it but it's not that obvious IMO, and that's for good. At first, this song seemed forgettable, nothing really special. But in the end, it is more than fine, especially considering this is a really strong round. As I said more than once in my first roulette, I like when song get progressively louder, in case of this one, from soft orchestral ballad to nice heavy indie rock. It's real quality stuff and it reaches its peak at the guitar solo which is basic but cool sounding, it fits well and works as a climax. There isn't really a bad thing about this song (maybe it's a bit too long) but there are still a few better ones in this round.

I actually listened to this band before but I didn't remember anything so I accepted this submission. So yeah, now I see I should've tried harder because this is pretty dope stuff. One of the reasons I've given up after one listen is length of it, there are like only four songs on the album and all of them are long. The song itself is heavy af. My problem with this kind of music is often that it all blends together and sounds like noise. With this song, it's not like that. There are still blast beats and tremolo picking but it sounds great and pretty crisp. The band this reminded me of is old Opeth (really old, Morningrise era) and I love Opeth :D I like how, although being really heavy, it's got melodic riffs that got stuck in my head. However, there is one part that makes me :metal every time. It's that breakdown that starts at 6:17. First thing, there is a creepy melody, then that slow heavy part, great stuff.
Parama, you're in for round 2 with Preserved in Ash by Cormorant.

Talking about songs I already heard, here's another one, I believe someone played it on plug.dj. I remember thinking at least singer is German because his pronunciation and phrasing sounds kinda weird. That phrasing of "tomorrow" makes me cringe every time. Actually, I don't like vocals in verses at all. Riffs in verses are mostly chuggy which is not my style at all but they are still enjoyable. Fortunately, there's a chorus which makes the song a lot lot better. It's really catchy and powerful so it got stuck in my head for the most of the last two days (even more than the songs I like more). This songs is not really special but it's good enough to get you through.
It's Voyager - Misery Is Only Company. Elite, get ready for the round 2 :tup

1. Parama: Cormorant - Preserved in Ash
2. home: OWEL - Float

Sacul: Gazpacho - Upside Down

I'll probably announce winner of the round and two more songs tomorrow and leave elimination for Sunday. Sorry for the delay, I'm really busy these days :-\

Next one's the biggest grower of the round. First few listen it was actually among my 2 least favorites! But it the end, I really realized how good it is and that's how it is for me most often when it comes to lengthier pieces. To be honest, I expected them to sound a bit different, maybe like Riverside so I must say I was disappointed at first (because Riverside is one of my all time favorite bands). This is much more dreamy though and when I started to like it, I couldn't believe how I didn't hear it from the start. It is at the same time lovely and kinda scary. I don't know if it's the album cover but this really sounds nocturnal :lol Great stuff from start to finish, can't wait to check them further.
Keep it up, Sacul, you're through to the next round with Upside Down by Gazpacho :tup

Here's the song that was (one of) my favorite(s) from the first listen. It seems like you know what I like :P Guitarwork is really in style I love, reminds me of some alt/prog rock bands I like. I guess it's no surprise I like poppy music and this is really catchy throughout the whole song but chorus is especially dancy :D it's one of those songs that make me not worried, like everything is fine. There's really not much to say to describe how much I liked this song, you're safe Train of Naught, with Seeds of Gold by Closure in Moscow.

I don't know why you thought this might be too safe, it's not at all. This is unlike anything I heard before. I mean, it's indie pop/rock but with a jazzy twist (or that's just a singer's voice). Singer sounds like someone between Frank Sinatra and Robbie Williams. The reason why I like this so much is the feeling, it's sounds really bittersweet to me and I like both melancholic and dancy music. Actually, for some reason it reminds me of Closing Time by Semisonic. Orchestral nature of this song gives me goosebumps and paired with jazzy tone of singer's voice makes it almost perfect. I hope their other songs sound like this one ;D
It's Kissing Strangers by Cherry Ghost. Soupytwist, you're the winner of this round :tup
