Your favorites of these songs by the Beatles - Part III
« on: January 13, 2018, 12:02:49 AM »
You can vote for up to 7.

I went with:

Something
Rocky Racoon
Because
Here Comes the Sun
Across the Universe
Lady Madonna
Hey Jude

The fourth and final Beatles poll will be tomorrow, featuring songs from all eras not seen in any of the first three polls.

So you made a poll for this era but did not include Two Of Us.

This is my favorite Beatles era. Abbey Road is my favorite, which has my two most favorite Beatles songs ever: Something and Here Comes The Sun.

I'm playing this round under protest, cmon man, 7 of THESE, Jesus Christ!

I picked seven off your list cause I suppose it wouldn't have let me pick more.

My picks that counted:

Revolution
Long and Winding Road
Helter Skelter
Get Back
Hey Jude
Back in the USSR
I Want You (She's so Heavy)

The remainder of my Top 10 on this list
Let It Be
Across the Universe
Something

Honorable mention:
Oh Darling

That is the LEAST number of songs I could submit from this list

Wow another tough one...

While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Because
Helter Skelter
Across The Universe
Something
Hey Jude
I Want You (She's So Heavy)

Lots of good songs but these were the 7 I picked at this moment. No long explanations this time, it's 3:11am for me right now lpl

Here Comes the Sun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Let It Be
The Long and Winding Road
Helter Skelter
Something
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey (first vote, kudos for including it!)

It's funny how the more legendary songs like Hey Jude and I want you weren't even close to being my picks, even though they're fantastic. That just goes to show how many great songs these guys put out.

That is correct.

For sure. Ironically, this era features the two hits of theirs that I actively dislike - Get Back and The Long and Winding Road.

And while I love the fury of Helter Skelter, that guitar tone makes me ears bleed.  I know, I know, it was 1968, but that is one god awful tone.

Here Comes The Sun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The Long and Winding Road
Across the Universe
Something
Hey Jude
Blackbird

I think The Beatles polls are always the hardest, they just wrote so many amazing songs!

Say, am I allowed to start polls like these my self, Kev? I don't wanna steal your idea. I'd have some ideas:

Your favorite
Gabriel-era Genesis songs
Collins Trick Of The Tail - Duke Genesis songs
Pop-era-Collins Genesis songs
Different eras of Yes songs
Eagles songs
Steely Dan Songs
Joe Cocker Beatles covers
Hogarth & Fish era Marillion songs
69-74 King Crimson songs
Different eras of Pink Floyd songs
Different eras of Rush songs
Steven Wilson solo songs
Supertramp & ELO hits
Talk Talk songs
Coldplay songs

Like I said, I don't wanna steal you thing, if you want, start some of these polls yourself, I really enjoy them and I really find interesting how other people think about them :) So please keep em coming!!!  :metal

Anyone can start any thread/poll they want, within reason of course  :lol :lol, but even though some have to tried be cute and make some similar threads lately that are basically mock threads, I'd rather everyone let me run the course with my ideas and then it's anyone's ball, that way the forum police don't start whining about too many poll threads in this subforum. :lol :lol

Come Together
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Hey Jude
Let it Be
Oh! Darling

Again, all of them are really good and this was super hard.

Here Comes The Sun
The Ballad of John and Yoko
Get Back
Back In The U.S.S.R.
Everybody's Got Something To Hide...

LOVE the baseline in that last song.   I couldn't narrow down the rest of the list to just two, but I'm okay with that.   As for songs missed, love the rest of the medley from Abbey Road.  Savoy Truffle from The White Album.   Two of Us from Let It Be, and Don't Let Me Down, a single release.   But I have to mention perhaps one of my ten favorite Beatles songs of all time:  I've Got A Feeling.

I think this was the easiest one yet:

Revolution (assuming this is the rocking version and not the slow version)
Here Comes the Sun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Let It Be (probably interchangeable with Hey Jude)
Because
Long and Winding Road
Something.

Honorable mention to Rocky Raccoon
"There's a bass solo in a song called Metropolis where I do a bass solo."  John Myung

I'm playing this round under protest, cmon man, 7 of THESE, Jesus Christ!

YUUUUUP.

My choices:
Revolution (like pg1067, with the caveat that it's the single version and not the slow one from the White Album)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Let It Be
Because
Across the Universe
Hey Jude
Lady Madonna

What I would have added from the list had I been able to make more choices:  Come Together, Here Comes the Sun, Helter Skelter, Get Back, Something, Oh! Darling, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Blackbird

I'm on board with all of that. Even though I didn't include Maxwell and Octopus in my would have voted list, Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album.
