Anyone else checked out his covers?

This metal of Africa is highly entertaining:

*Clicks thread and is intrigued!

Another thread referencing Africa.

*Leaves disappointed.

Good music, dude is trying a little too hard to be metal with his vocals and mannerisms though.

I didn't. I appreciate the effort though of someone making something their own, in their own style. Like I said, the music is really good.

I remember watching GHostbusters in the theater with my parents, and my mom erupting in laughter when that theme came on. My parents also had the 45 of Africa and played it endlessly. Just to bring this thread full circle.

Yea, he is just a bit too much for me.

I say this as a fan of the Cybertronic Spree.

It was OK - the female vocalist added a lot to the song. But his headbanging antics were a bit much, and the djenty additions pushed it over the edge for me. I'd rather stick with Andy Rehfeldt, with such classics as these:

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I really liked that Africa cover, I posted it in the Toto thread a while ago.

And he just wants to be silly in that video, I actually thought it was funny.

Listened to a lot of his other covers but not all of them worked, Africa is clearly my favorite.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

This cover of Africa is not representive at all of the crazy style of the guy, I'd suggest a random tour of his channel to get a feel of what he does; I quite loved the cover of Zombie and Poker Face, and the Lego cover is absolutely hilarous  :lol

Anyway...

Good music, dude is trying a little too hard to be metal with his vocals and mannerisms though.

Exactly what I feel. The guy is talented and funny but he tries so hard that it borders parody.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

He made Adele tolerable so he gets points for that. I got bored with him a while ago though.
