Glad I was the top 4 then.
I'll admit I forgot to put all the songs that got a 3.5 in order of preference, was sleepy oops :P

Also, at least one of the fogeys got the axe, and at least one is safe.

Here's hoping the kid defines Fogey as 30+
Would having fogey tastes count as being a fogey?

2 of the fogeys were in the top 3 so he might be refering to the same person. Either that or Ariich is out

I'm possibly a fogey by Chad's suggested definition.

I may be screwed, even though I sent a f'n awesome song.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

Actually, being a fogey is a state of number, not a mind!  :jingle.boy:

When the forum first started, 30+ was the fogey definition.  Now, I think we typically consider it to be 40+.  Pretty soon, it'll be 50+   :lol
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

Can I be a fogey?

Anyway fuck it, I'll take a guess: I don't think Threshold has a very good chance of making it through to the next round.

I'm inclined to agree, partly because of Sacul's tastes and partly because I don't think it's a great choice of song.

I don't know anything about his tastes, so you may well be right. I mean - I don't know experientially.  I did read the posts about what he likes and doesn't. They aren't DT clones, they aren't djent, they aren't cheesy, and they don't really mix it with thrash. Someone may disagree with my assessment, but that's what I feel. And of course, he may agree that they are none of those things and still not like the song.

Yeah there are plenty of bands that don't fit into those yet I still dislike them, should have included some more info in that :P

Though iirc they're power metal leaning and you did call out that so

I don't consider Threshold to be power metal either. I suppose it depends because I've seen what seems like every band that's melodic described as power metal at one point. I think I should just go listen to my song now and enjoy it before I get cut. :)

On what planet is Threshold power metal?

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Threshold rules regardless of genre. That is a fact. :)
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

Even though I'm a fan, I can see why people would have that opinion.

Latest album is impressive too I must say.

For what it's worth I genuinely thought about sending it in one of these mini-rounds, but that's partially because I have a mighty need to foist that song upon everyone I know

I love Wikipedia.   Anyone ever edit entries?  I enjoy doing that (especially with band  entries that sound like a EPK).

I swear some songs are good.
« Reply #383 on: December 13, 2017, 08:07:50 PM »
What is it exactly that I don't like? I'm not really sure, because the song is well-written, but for some reason I feel I've already listened to stuff like this many times already, and it's not even a style I particularly enjoy.

Feels like it drags until the vocals appear, and they aren't really good nor their melodies are.

And... I'm disappointed.

I really was looking forward to your submissions, Mr Fogey, but this one isn't doing much for me.

On the other hand, lyrics are weak, and the sung parts feel like standard progressive metal for the most part.

I feel you have better stuff you could send me..

I like the buildup and the climax of the song is pretty cool albeit a little repetitive.

It's a nice song yeah, but just that.

This is one of three entries that could be described as "crescendocore".

Dunno why I was expecting to hear growls at any moment, and I'm glad they never appeared.

It can be a little repetitive tho, and I'd have definitely enjoyed some instrumental breaks.

As usual with pop stuff, I wished there was some kind of instrumental break here and there.

It's certainly pretty fun, I like this kind of music, pretty cool as background.

Was a little underwhelmed at first but this one has grown on me, definitely more interesting than your previous submission.

I've always listened to some songs from this band here and there during plug sessions, and never got too interested in them.

I'll admit at first I was worried you'd get the axe, but this has grown on me recently.

It's a bit of an ethereal song and although it's quite crescendocore, it's got just enough unique style to appeal to me.

The structure of the song is quite simple but I don't mind when it's this enjoyable.

It's a short song, but pretty good for what it does.

i'm just gonna guess it's the one specifically mentioning pop
