Second roulette
First roulette

Hello kids,

Welcome to my third roulette: the one where I think I can’t be wowed by new music anymore but probably will. This time, no hangmanen or any of that fuss. It’s gonna be an elimination style roulette, every round one person leaves. I have 10 contestants but am willing to knock it up to 11 max. If you're willing to join and the list exceeds 11 though, don't worry, we will just have round 0 to decide which 11 contestants are picked.

10 or 11 players. If we have 11 it just means we’ll have one more finalist for the album round

•   Round 0: 9 minute length limit, top 12 advance in case round 0 is even necessary. If not, we start with the original 10 players in round 1.
•   Round 1-4: 9 minute length limit
•   Round 5: 12 minute length limit
•   Round 6: Instrumental round; 12 minute length limit
•   Round 7: 12 minute length limit
•   Round 8: two songs by the same artist, 15 minute limit, no ‘flow’ points
•   Round 9: Album round; maximum length of 80 minutes, no minimum length.

I will not be doing scores, so none of your submissions will have any impact on future rounds (unless it’s the worst of the round of course, because it means you’re out of the game). My preferred way of submitting songs in order from favourite to least favourite is Spotify>YouTube>files. Stuff like Bandcamp and Soundcloud is also allowed but if there’s a way to get me one of the 3 preferred methods do that please. Also it’s not mandatory but I always thought little descriptions of the song or why you like them are fun to read.

I'm allowing songs from the same band in the same round, but they go on the banned list once every submission of the round is in, so they will be unavailable for use in later rounds.

Finally I hope everyone who originally showed interest in the tracker thread can confirm through PM or in this thread that they are in fact willing to participate now, cause originally I said it would be January. And like I said, the roulette isn't full yet, anyone can enter but it just means we would have a preliminary round to see who moves on to the real thing.

Let me know if you think I forgot to cover something also, it's been my most rushed roulette OP thus far. :lol

Oh and I also made a spotify playlist of my favourite songs from the second roulette, top 30 (though there's only 25 on it because the other 5 aren't on spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/lvialviaquez/playlist/7Hy3dMpmEJJ3RhTqVf1noI

and for our dear non-Spotifiers here's the full list in case interested (bold ones are not on spotify but can be found one way or another on bandcamp/youtube):

Or 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Or anything by Pink Floyd.

You sure that banned list is accurate? :neverusethis:

Pretty much.

I know Dark Side of the Moon so none of that, but otherwise I only know the popular stuff and Julia Dream was sent to me last roulette. I also got Shine On You Crazy Diamond in my first roulette but don't remember much of it.

I know like 4 or 5 songs by both Queen and Led Zeppelin but if you avoid the overly popular stuff that I have obviously heard they're all game.

You definitely need more Led Zep in your life  :heart although I'll probably not be sending them.

So how long have we got to send? That's all I need to know.

Well, I don't expect more than 11 participants (we currently have 10) but if so, there will be a preliminary round. But since there are no cumulative scores I don't think people would send something different depending on whether we have a round 0 or not, it's basically the same as round 1.

So people can start sending their first submissions already. I think since it's the first round I'll give people a bit more time than normal, let's set the deadline at the end of the week. From the 2nd round onward I will give everyone 3 days to submit after results of the previous round have been posted.

I confirm I'm in! I was searching some of my songs of your second roulette but I saw later that I didn't partecipate and I don't know why. The banned list could be mine, at the moment I don't have many bands to send but these are the best roulettes for me.

I'm sending only the things I've never sent before in this one, should be good.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Yes yes you are all in. This means we are having at least 12 people so there's gonna be a round 0. From this point on, anyone who wants to participate has to send me a song before the end of the week (remember the time limit is 9 minutes, no exceptions), and I will probably have the results up by next week Wednesday at latest, depending on when the last person sends their song.

Nice, you're all in, we have 13 people already and it is probably the most diverse bunch out of all my roulettes so far. I know I said I'll keep the roulette open and just do round 0 where I eliminate everyone but the best 11 songs, but I don't want to end up cutting too many people in the preliminaries, so I'm gonna cap it at 14. One more person can join and then it'll be closed for good, come on in mystery guy

Got 4 songs in already, keep it up boys

as opposed to bands that released their last album on a Silver CD-R with a sticky note for titles
Someone gave me a silver CD-R with a sticky note for titles for free after a concert last week and it was okay :lol not great, but okay

Count me in, if there's still an open spot. I've been watching all these roulette's happen and they seem like fun.

By the way, I see that Spotify is your preferred method of sending songs, if I don't use Spotify, is there still a way I can send you songs on there? Or should I just PM you the song Artist and Title?

Yeah, you're in mr. pupper on acid! That means I'm closing it down guys, no more new participants from here on. 14 participants, 5 songs in, 9 to go. That means 3 people will be leaving us after this preliminary round, so don't be a Luke and do this:
save it to use in a later round (that I'll likely fail to get to)  :\

By the way, I see that Spotify is your preferred method of sending songs, if I don't use Spotify, is there still a way I can send you songs on there? Or should I just PM you the song Artist and Title?
PMing me the artist and song title is fine unless for some reason it's a band that is available on literally no online platform. It's in the overlong OP as well but my preferred order is Spotify>YouTube>Files(FLAC/mp3 etc.)>>Soundcloud/Bandcamp. Any of these is possible so not only Spotify. It's just that if someone sends me a YT vid for example, and I can find an identical version on Spotify, I will.

If you've got any other questions since you seem new to roulettes feel free to PM or ask here
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

I swear I read through the OP twice and missed that bit both times, haha.

And since this is my first time participating in a roulette, I fully expect to get the boot after the first round  ;D

If you're still taking people for Round 0, I'll send a song... just so that Parama can tell me how shitty it is.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".
