Oh, with Parama's own review of said album as well. This is promising :corn

exist: this might genuinely be better than their 2017 album, which i already like a lot. the biggest roadblock is that vessel is notably weak & kills the moment of the album but the other 6 tracks are rad as hell with just, so many creative and interesting instrumental moments & the album flows so well besides, i literally have no clue what vessel is doing on this album, it doesn't belong and is really dull compared to the rest of this good god damn prog metal music. sheesh. like okay no one song blows me away but they're all setting a pretty high bar and keeping me engaged, except this one track. bleh

Yeah, his latest PM was more along the lines of "omg the apologist v2 fap fap fap album so good wow" but a little more articulate

lonestar: Anubis Gate - Horizons
LordCost: Cardiacs - Guns
Parama: Exist - Sunlight
Elite: Semistereo - Trans Earth Injection
TAC: Ezerath - Opeth: The Heir Apparrent

Now I want your brutally honest opinions on any of these bands if you have them :corn because a roulette is worthless without mindless shittalking

I've heard the Anibus Gate and it's OK.

Just dropped the needle in a couple of spots on the Exist, and it's interesting.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

i dunno whether or not you'd like it since the vocals are decisively growl-heavy but  :corn
i kinda compare it to the apologist in terms of how they go about writing songs but not so much the album structure or musical style but yeah i am currently kind of in love with it

OK, giving each one a cursory listen with the game muted...

Cardiac- Got about a minute in and just no...
Exist- Gave the second track some time...think I'll be spinning this album in full later, very intrigued.
Semistereo- Oh my...this is added to my list as well...
Ezerath- Fuck yeah...

So three out of four I wouldn't mind losing to. If I lose to Cardiac though, we are just not a match.

Cardiacs are now in my top 5 bands ever for sure, I'm really happy to got into the final just to send them, but I'm sure I won't win. The vocals of Tim Smith are good and I can't imagine a different singer, and his songwriting is perfect, I can't name a better composer.

I don't know the other bands, as in almost every round :lol

I considered sending them in your roulette as well, but then my more metal entries started doing very well so ai didn’t, but I’m sure you’ll like them :)

I got a bit of time off, so if I can pull myself away from my endless switching between Jason Richardson's solo album and the new Orphaned Land, I'll dig into all three of those. What I heard impressed the fuck out of me.

Loving the divide between camp Cardiacs and camp pretty-much-everything-else

What is SGM?
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

Anyway, already on my 3rd listen, albums are starting to sink in a bit more. Even the bad ones :neverusethis:

Think that the singer/songwriter has said that Cardiacs are a pop band for him. Some songs are still definitely crazy, but I don't hear anymore the weirdness in the majority of songs. In a facebook group of fans, people were voting for the choice of a single to buy to collect money for Tim Smith's illness, and there were many unsuitable proposals by people forgetting that they are not an easy band  :lol

I have half a mind rankings all the songs of this round from best to worst, especially considering some of the worst album still rank pretty high and some of the best albums probably still have songs ranking a bit low so it seems interesting to me. What do you guys think about that? And if so, should I post all the write-ups and then announce the winner, or do a classic countdown from #5 to #1?
