I almost forget Tool when I think to my favourite prog metal bands. Now that I see them thrown in the list among other less important bands I remember how much they were good.

Tool - Schism
Tool - Parabola.

How is it possible that they are not banned?

Seriously man, wtf?

Oh, third band is probably Prospekt & TAC sent? & I could see lonestar sending bloodshot dawn so lordcost sent the second artist on the list  :corn

Elite will guess my band. I thought I was the one that went for the safe route, but who sent Tool was smarter. I'm not even that confident about my choice because I don't know why they weren't banned after I sent them in Train's first roulette.

Tool - Schism
Tool - Parabola.

How is it possible that they are not banned?

Because a) Train hasn’t lived long enough to actively remember them releasing new music or
b) Train only listens music through spotify; Tool aren’t on there

I would say "why no lateralus" but oh right time limits
Elite sent tool on

yeah, picking two within 15 minutes was a little difficult

Last artist on the list is Blindead. Seen ‘em live one, can’t remember much from it (probably wasn’t too impressed). I’m too lazy right now to look up the song titles. Parama sent them.

Second on the list is Jolly. Where Everything’s Perfect is a killer track. Nice choice LordCost :tup

I dunno when you saw Blindead live but I wasn't impressed by any of their stuff besides the album I got from them, which is really dang good, so you might've just had to deal with their weaker stuff dunno

You've come pretty far :corn

Elite:
Tool - Schism
Tool - Parabola

LordCost:
Jolly - The Pattern
Jolly - Where Everything's Perfect

lonestar:
Prospekt - A___n _a__rs o_ D_scord
Prospekt - A_a__ara

TAC:
Bloodshot Dawn - Graviton Nightmare
Bloodshot Dawn - Battle for the Omniverse

Parama:
Blindead - My New Playground Became
Blindead - Affliction XXVII II MMIX

ACDNORST

As to why Tool isn't banned. Well, the only song I ever knew by them from my childhood was Sober and that one has stuck with me all the time, but apart from that the only album I've successfully listened to front to back was 10.000 Days (with quite some struggles), I never really bothered getting into other albums because of the inconvenience of CDs and no Spotify access.

That's right. I'm going to start my next listen after I finish listening to this sweet Hypno5e album. So far I have 2 strong contenders for the top spot and 2 other good entries, the last one seems to be a pretty definitive loser this time around.

I added a poll, so cast your votes! :corn

I'll be blunt guys, it would probably be more exciting to announce this during writeups but I don't want to hold back any information that may be useful to you to get extra time on thinking about your final album submission. Here goes:

Over time I've been enjoying the pair of songs I was indifferent on so much. I have a clear top 2 and while the bottom still has some quality gaps between them, I enjoy them all very much. Pulling a deus ex machina here by granting you all a finals spot, I don't want to rob you off this chance since everyone has come far enough to prove to me that you're worthy of it. So early congratulations I guess? :metal I'm probably gonna start counting down from top to bottom tonight and finish it tomorrow morning if I haven't by the end of the day.

This does mean I expect you all to send me by Saturday at latest as I'm gonna try to finish this as soon as possible before things in life get too hectic again, and that Bolsters can give a go to the next person as I'm heading into the final round tomorrow. This has been my best roulette time management-wise so far if I may say so

I'm gonna go with the album I messaged you about do yoneed a link or are you cool?
Nah man I got the full name, it's enough, you're in.

Where to even start, goddamn. Right now it's safe to say the top 2/3 are all ridiculously good, the other two are still great but haven't convinced me quite as much.

So I guess I'll start doing those other three first, in a random order as I haven't gotten to ranking them yet:

First pair of songs are Tool by Elite.

Schism:
First there is that super groovy bassline that evolves into the main riff. The vocals have a melancholic touch to them but in the end it is that tribal feel that takes me over, I'm very familiar with Soen and have always been aware that the delivery of the vocals in particular has strong Tool resemblances on earlier songs such as Fraccion and Canvas (some of my favourite Soen songs). Then the song manages to stay interesting without moving into a lot of new ground after the first few minutes, just by being very trippy and playing to its psychedelic heavy progrock strengths. Solid ass tune.

Parabola:
This one's a bit heavier and has less of that psychedelic touch that I love so much in my music. But it's being repaid by just being all around groovier and almost a bit grungy in a cool way. Then "ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE" into that little guitar lick has got to be one of the high points of this round. This is clearly a bit more of the aggressive side of Tool, one I would probably get into more easily seeing my listening habbits.

In the end I gotta say, I was switching between favourite song almost every listen, but now I probably give the edge to Parabola because it's a little more over the place and less focused on one particular theme to build the song around. Regardless, both songs kicked ass and if you wondered why the fuck I haven't gotten into Tool yet, you can stop wondering. :tup

yeah, if you skip on giving results :neverusethis:
Now I'm even doing writeups and shit boi, this roulette is so prog I'm breaking rules and habits left and right

I prefer Schism to be honest, I don't even remember Parabola apart a moment in the chorus. I'm going to relisten it now going home.

The Grudge, Patient, Ticks and Leeches, Lateralus are other songs of the same album that could have been easily round winner too for me.

It's weird that you have discovered Soen before Tool. It's like me that I discovered Haken before Dream Theater. I've never checked out Soen because I know they were too similar to Tool.

Soen are like halfway between Tool and Opeth tbh, they're pretty solid

Also I did find a way to get my album's spotify link so sent for the album round, and thanks for the win in advance  :hat

Anyways hangmanen should be done but give me Q anyways
