I peed next to Ian Mosley and Mark Kelly
Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.

Maybe Parama should take over the grading, as it turns out he listens to songs on 4 devices simultaneously for increased productivity:

:metal  :metal  :metal
Thanks for announcing always so early that I'm safe

In the first few rounds I did it completely random, the first song to pop up on shuffle during my last listen would get the writeup most likely. Now since there's just the middle few, top 2 and bottom few, I usually take middle-of-the-pack songs first. So you're probably a middle-packer if you get announced early a lot  :D

That's just how last.fm scrobbles your tracks if you use an iPod and listen to an album 4 times between synching your iPod.

Okay okay stop eating my popcorn! I think Elite's song shifted to 2nd place so the next write-up is not the runner up anymore.

These guys seem to have channeled their inner Oranssi Pazuzu, I feel a very similar sound with the very audible bass and overall dissonant instrumentals. On top of that some light guitar tones to give it that eerie sound. For the genre it belongs in, it's also very inoffensive sounding, and while I don't have a problem with the start, the end really leaves something to be desired (probably Trance of Death III :lol)

This was Venenum with Trance of Death II: Metanoia Journey by Parama

No complaints here at all. Really strong fast-paced metal track with cool synthesizer passages here and there. Definitely sounds like they built the whole song around one or two riffs which can get tedious sometimes, but this one doesn't ever bore me, it's quality all the way through. The quiet section was quite unexpected but really good, gave me a strong Exoplanet-era Contortionist feel with some loud groovy bass slapping. Maybe I'm harder to please with instrumentals though, cause even though this is right up my alley and I can't really complain, it's got nothing on any of the previous round-winners.

This one is TAC with Unearth by The Minerva Conduct.

1. The Minerva Conduct - Unearth
2. Kaki King - Can Anyone Who Has Heard this Music Really Be a Bad Person?
3. Venenum - Trance of Death - Part II: Metanoia Journey
4. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Ambugaton

TAC: The Minerva Conduct - Unearth
Parama: Venenum - Trance of Death - Part II: Metanoia Journey
home: Olafur Arnalds - Tomorrow's Song
Elite: Kaki King - Can Anyone Who Has Heard this Music Really Be a Bad Person?
LordCost: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Ambugaton
lonestar: Tempel - Mountain
twosuitsluke: Set and Setting - Ephemerality

Final 3 write-ups this afternoon, stay tuned :corn :corn

Train, you always notice some cool bass.

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

What can I say, I'm a bassman.

Wasn't hard picking my least favourite, but it is hard letting people go at this stage cause you've all sent me plenty of quality stuff. First, a very minimalistic piano piece that kind of reminds me of Nils Frahm. Honestly, the only stuff I've heard from Olafur Arnalds was Old Skin which features the Agent Fresco singer. I really dig that, but minimalistic piano music - or piano music on its own - is honestly something I never really enjoyed that much. I think one of the only times someone got me to really like something ambient/minimalistic was with Villa del Refugio by This Will Destroy You, and it might just have been because I did one of the listens while on shrooms. :-\ Next up we have a black/death metal kind of tune with lots of emphasis on atmosphere. Some really empowering stuff here at times, but on the whole not something I see myself return to on an individual basis. If the album would be good and I can dig the vocals, this seems like a nice song to be surrounded by that. And last we have the longest song of the round, which already lays the foundation for my main / only complaint. The riffage was good, pretty brutally sick at times too, and I have to say it got better over time. But the length was an issue for me here, it was one I had some struggles getting through sometimes even though when you take out the subpar moments or meandering moments it becomes a damn good mid-length metal instrumental.

So overall this probably wasn't one of my favourite rounds, but I got some good stuff out of it, and I believe most bands I received do not exclusively make instrumental music so that could be interesting to delve into some of them and see what they're like normally. Unfortunately, I have to kick out the participant that has sent me a lot of the best songs of the entire roulette here. Sorry home, that was a bit of a miss for me.

1. The Minerva Conduct - Unearth
2. Kaki King - Can Anyone Who Has Heard this Music Really Be a Bad Person?
3. Venenum - Trance of Death - Part II: Metanoia Journey
4. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Ambugaton
5. Set and Setting - Ephemerality
6. Tempel - Mountain

7. Olafur Arnalds - Tomorrow's Song

Next round is the same as the round before the instrumentals: 12 minute time limit and no other restrictions, get wild! Friendly reminder that the first post has all the round themes, and the round after the next will be a little different (15 minute limit to send 2 songs by the same artist, with no points added/deducted based on flow)

You have until Monday to send yo songs.

Ah well, I wasn't too confident in this song at all, but I'd rather sent something I love than an okay post-rock song which might have gotten me trough the round  :P

Thanks for the roulette! I think I have three round wins so at least that's pretty cool  ;D

every option i'm looking at is somewhat black metal though it ranges from black-tinged doom metal to a good balance of prog/black metal to just straight up black metal with minor prog elements and i dunno which is even my favorite or which you'd most likely enjoy, bah :lol

what is 'at the end of the day' exactly (other than a song by Spock's Beard)? I need to know the exact time until when I can still send for this round. I'm working now, so I can't send anything at this moment.

That'll be around 10PM for me, so it shouldn't be any problem unless you applied for an additional part-time job as a security guard at Club Bubbels @ Rembrandtplein

So for those of us with weird timezones, that would be about 10 and a half hours from now.
