I actually admire the person Alice Cooper. Aside his impressive musical catalog, he's very intelligent, as you said level headed, and all around one of the most brilliant minds of the scene. I love how this almost 70 years old dude, with wife and children, who plays golf, supports difficult youths, and never ever went back to the booze or any kind of vice after he quit, from time to time puts on the mascara, the make-up, the extravant clothes and becomes the ultimate wickedly funny entertainer.
He speaks of Alice Cooper in third person, not because of pride or vanity, but because to him (Vincent) Alice Cooper is a character, a persona. He's fully aware of that, he knows when to be Vincent and when to be Alice, on the other hand many people just don't know where to stop - to quote him from an interview I've read, Jim Morrison was Jim Morrison all the time, and well, he's dead at 27 and Alice next February hits 70.
