The Black Dahlia Murder
« on: October 15, 2017, 02:31:45 AM »
Just discovered these guys. I'd heard of them before but for some reason had assumed they were too modern and contrived for me. Their new album "Nightbringers" and previous standout "Ritual" have kept me delighted over the last week.

Smashing death metal with lots of melodic riffs like The Haunted or At The Gates. No melody on the vocals. Superb leads and guitar work. Especially on Ritual, the leads are almost jazzy. Bundles of energy and enthusiasm. Joy for their artform seems to come shining through.

I have a really high rejection rate on extreme metal these days. Something to do with buying Reign In Blood when it was released back in '86, maybe, but these guys are totally invigorating me for whatever reason.

Ah, fuck. That sucks. Sounds like suicide. He seemed such a warm, funny, everyday kinda guy.

Be at peace, Trevor.

Sad indeed, TBDM was a favorite band of mine.

Wow.....I haven't really listened to these guys in a while, but they were certainly in heavy rotation about 10-12 years ago. Sad to hear about Trevor.

I peed next to Ian Mosley and Mark Kelly
Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.
