Herman Li: Why I love Dream Theater
« on: October 14, 2017, 12:08:01 AM »
Came across this article the other day: https://teamrock.com/feature/2017-10-10/why-i-love-dream-theater-by-dragonforces-herman-li

Scarred is not a bad favorite song  It's also cool to see him give TA props, though I'm not a massive fan of that album myself.

The Astonishing is cool, or Herman Li will shit on your head.

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.

Cool! I'm totally with Herman on the grunge thing in the 90s. I couldn't get into that and I'm from the Seattle area. Dream Theater from the east coast, lol, was my saving grace musically during that time.
Glad to see he gave a good mention to Rush and Symphony X, and I agree about The Astonishing. Fantastic album and the concert was epic!

From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

That's right - whoops. Been so long. Can't believe that thing is that old already. I was on the original DF boards way back in the day when Herman Li and Dave actually posted on it

Yeah, I've seen a couple pictures of Herman with JP/DT, and he always seems very happy to be around them. I believe Marc Hudson (their vocalist) is also a big DT fan.
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

And now I want a DragonForce concept story album  :lol
Jordan took Moore's boring, pedestrian parts and elevated them considerably to take them from barely palatable to stellar.
