February--Kid Rock
March--Sabaton/Kreator
April--Weird Al Yankovic
June--Shania Twain
July  Foreigner/Whitesnake

This looks interesting, being that I used to love punk music and never seen them before...

Would only be worth it to see Suicidal Tendencies and then Doyle playing. Danzig sounds like shit, and Jerry Only is... well... Jerry Only.

I'd kill to see Doyle play though.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Yea, I wouldn't expect much from a music perspective, more of just to see sort of thing.  I've never really liked Misfits, just a few songs here and there, but I saw some of the concert footage from Vegas (apparently they have a really strict no phones policy, but a few videos surfaced) and it looked like an insane show.  I think the experience is more fun, than watching/listening to those guys perform.

Got the chance to go see The Faceless next week  🤔

I kinda liked their latest album but preferred the previous one way more. For those who have seen them live, are they any good?

Hey axeman, you need a ticket for that Sons of Apollo show?  I'll give you mine, I can't make it but I have a physical ticket already.

Should be able to help you out. Need to confirm that my cousin is still game to go since he'd be my ride :lol Assuming he is we'll need two tickets, but I'm assuming it's GA so I can take yours and then one through TM.

Shoot me a PM when you find out with your address and I'll mail you mine

PM incoming about that ticket.
Photobucket sucks.

Intervals fucking killed it man, and all the opening acts were outstanding. A good four hours of guitar shredding by some serious talent. Show number one for the year is in the bag...

Jan 31 - Intervals @ Oakland Metro Operahouse

Feb 10 - Sabaton @ UC Theater
Mar 4 - Contortionist/Skyharbor @ Cornerstone in Berkeley
Apr 5 - Protest the Hero @ Slim's
May 11 - Steven Wilson @ The Fillmore

Really excited to catch this show when it comes near here.  Been digging Sabaton lately and Cyhra as the opener is going to be fantastic.

Here's what it looks like right now:

May 2nd: Roger Waters
June 23rd: King Crimson
June 28th: Iron Maiden
July 1st: Alice In Chains

I was planning on seeing Steven Wilson in two weeks, but I'll have to pass because of my new job. It's not too bad, Steven will go on for a few years.   ;)

Same here, Sabaton is unbelievably fun live, they came pretty damn close to showing up Nightwish when I saw them together.

Yea, I was unfamiliar with Sabaton for that show and was very impressed with them.  I ended up getting an album after that, Carolus Rex, which I enjoyed but for whatever reason didn't dig much further into them.  I really like Cyhra's debut album so when I saw they were touring together I started youtubing Sabaton more and really liking the rest of their catalog.  They definitely get the crowd going, that music just makes you want to jump.

Just sucks that show isn't local, going to drive up to Boston to catch it on a Saturday.

So I could possibly go see Mogwai tomorrow. I'm quite up for it but I don't think I've ever been to a post-rock show before. I'm imaging not a great deal of energy in the crowd but a mesmerising performance. Should I go for it?

Only concert on my plate so far this year is Avenged Sevenfold in about two weeks. I skipped their show last summer when they toured with Metallica, so I'm really looking forward to this one. Also, it'll be my first concert in our city's fancy new arena that opened in 2016 so there's some added excitement for me.

Updating my list. Unfortunately, there are like 4 or 5 shows between Feb 18-24 that I would love to see but am only doing 2.

Feb. 19th - The Dead Deads at Beat Kitchen
Feb. 23rd - Machine Head at Concord Music Hall
March 3rd - Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers at Subterranean

Am debating doing Pearl Jam at Wrigley again. Really want to but it comes down to $$$.

Will probably end up checking out the new album when it comes out and deciding then. I really like The Black Halo but I've never really gotten into the rest of their discography. You should consider the Kotzen show seeing as you like Winery Dogs.

I've been a Styx fan all of my life, but I have no desire to see Styx in their current incarnation.  The live stuff I've seen and heard from DDY sounds fantastic, I can't wait for this show.

I probably haven't given his solo stuff enough of a chance, but I wasn't really into his latest single so I didn't really dig further.

Ah, fair enough. I haven't actually listened to any of it. I think I'm going to go in blind just based on my love of TWD and his playing/vocals.

Yea, his singing and guitar work is fantastic in TWD and most people seem to say, if you like that, check out his solo work.  I'd imagine there's stuff there that I would like that I just didn't find in my initial search.  I really doubt I make it for that show, I'm not sure my interest is enough to make it back to back concerts in NYC.  Also, that Saturday 4/21 The Darkness are playing in NJ.  I'd consider that, I loved their debut album, but really kind of forgot about them after that.

Found out that Myles Kennedy has released his US dates for his solo tour.  Presale is up right now.  Got the tickets immediately. I am definitely going to his show at the Troubadour in LA.  It may be an hour drive away and on a Sunday, but it's definite no-brainer for me and a must buy.  Seeing Myles play acoustic renditions of songs from everything he's done (Mayfield Four, Alter Bridge, Slash/Myles/Conspirators, and his upcoming solo album, Year of the Tiger) is pure bliss for me.

blabbermouth.net/news/myles-kennedy-announces-u-s-tour-blabbermouth-net-presale-available/

So now, got two shows for the year.

Big Wreck - Constellation Room, Santa Ana, CA - March 9th
Myles Kennedy - The Troubadour, Los Angeles, CA - May 6th

You won't be disappointed. I took my Dad to see him last year to the show he did The Grand Illusion in its entirety at. Dennis was fantastic. He sounded excellent and the band is really cracking. His Tommy Shaw stand-in is just excellent.

I would go again in a heartbeat.

My first concert of the year was last weekend.  Caught my favorite ska band and a band I've seen 15 or so times, Less Than Jake at a local venue.  It's been 20 years since my father took me to my first concert which happened to be the same band at the same venue (It was under a different name back then, Hunka Bunk Ballroom is now Starland Ballroom).  I told my parents this over the phone before the show and my dad didn't seem to remember  :lol but I went with my GF and we both had a really fun time.  I stood near the side of the stage before the band went on and got to talk to Buddy (Trombone) and Roger (bass and vocals) right before they went on.  Got a picture with Roger who I shared my first concert story with (and complimented him on his Iron Maiden tshirt).  He said he didn't remember the concert 20 years ago, but while on stage, he referenced the hunka bunka show 20 years ago a few times to the crowd so I'm guessing he used my story to engage the crowd which was pretty cool.  Anyway, a typical really fun and at times, funnny, concert.  A really nice way to start 2018!

Less Than Jake Live @ Starland Ballroom

Also, adding The Sons of Apollo show in NYC to my concert list since I missed their NJ show last week.
