See, I thought From the Flame would be great for this. But I was going by personal experience - 2 of the people who got into Leprous through that song are Stadler's age. So I thought it could work for him. Obviously not. I'd love to send Forced Entry, but I didn't think he'd be down with the harsher vocal moments.

Malina is awesome though - every bit as high quality as everything else they've done.

When you say Malina is as good as everything they've ever done I can only think "why are you insulting their previous albums so viciously"

I love all of their albums. Even the ones they don't like anymore. :) Every thing they've done so far is great, and different from what they've done in the past. I'm not saying Malina is my favorite Leprous album - not sure I really have one - but the quality is there.

Glad you liked Deep Peace. I was nervous about sending Devin as he can be love/hate. The guitar playing on this may be my favorite on any song by any artist.

But in Lethean's defense, I'm not your typical fogey.   I'm not really a "genre" guy, in that I love me some Genesis and Yes and ELP and King Crimson, but most of the offshoots of those bands I don't get into.   The Lamb through 3SL is my favorite Genesis period, but the very best Steve Hackett solo stuff is just "Meh" to me.    Even Marillion, who I would consider one of my favorite bands, has three albums that are virtually unlistenable to me (This Strange Engine, Something Else, and Less is Less).  Michael Schenker:  LOVE the Gary Barden albums, don't even have ONE MSG album that doesn't have him (or Bonnet) as the singer.   So there are no patterns with me.

I will say this, though:  I'm four songs into the round and some of you are going to be surprised.

or just pick a leprous song fogeys might actually stand some choice of enjoying  :corn
don't send boring tripe from malina and don't send one of their most intense songs to tac

And don't send The Cloak to RJ. :lol

I think I'll give him something from Bilateral after the roulette.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I feel like Painful Detour would be a good fogey track, I can't remember if it has growls but it's more melodic while still being pretty proggy and heavy

I guess Restless could be good as well as RJ is alright with growls. Or a title track, it's more energetic and there's no "wailing" he complained about.

I mean, the title track on Coal is the worst song on the album and one of the worst leprous songs in general
But Bilateral is pretty boss

As I said before in plug.dj room, Coal is a weird one for me. I like a few songs (The Cloak, The Valley, Echo, Salt, alright maybe Foe too although I don't think it's a good opener), and then stuff like Chronic, Coal or Contaminate Me does absolutely nothing for me.

Disagree to your heart's content. I'll just be enjoying  Malina and Coal. And the Congregation too, just in case you don't like that one either. :)

:) I fully admit that album took me some time to wrap my head around. Chronic and Coal are probably my two favorites, but they're all great.

I like Coal but I think it's far from their best. I mean, my favourite Leprous song is Third Law or possibly Slave. I love all their albums and do think Malina is another strong release from them. Fogeys could easily find something to like with this band, I don't doubt that for a second. Also one of the best live bands I've seen in the last few years.

Coal is the worst Leprous album
It's the weakest of their good albums that I have, at the very least
Way better than Malina though
Seriously Malina was disappointing as hell and Im upset I even bought it at all

I wonder if Dare You would be a good song choice for a roulette...  Not enough vocal lines maybe.

I think Coal is a moody album and one that you have to immerse yourself in before you really appreciate it. Maybe the band as a whole is that way. I didn't instantly love any of them, but my introduction to them was live, and they were so good that I was more than willing to dive into Tall Poppy Syndrome and overlook the harsh vocals, which I usually do not like.  Dare You was an early favorite. (And of course Passing.) The second half needed more time.

I have nothing against Coal, I just think it's their weakest. I do also think that Contaminate Me is one of their best songs and the album contains quite some other great parts as well.

If you're looking for a theme for Round 7....covers?

YES!   I like it!

Only qualification is that the cover has to be something released on its' own, and not just a song given to a band. Meaning, "Come Undone" by AMob would be acceptable (but please don't send it) because Duran Duran released it themselves, but "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" by Priest would NOT, because Bob Halligan, Jr. didn't release it himself.  Make sense?

Don't you think Aeolia is the weakest one? :)

Contaminate Me is insane (in a good way).

Well, yeah, but I think most people (including the band) don't consider this to be their first album, even though technically it was.

I really find it hard to say which is my least favourite, even Aeolia has plenty to enjoy. If we're not counting Aeolia then it's either Coal or Malina, but they are both great.

I have to talk Leprous here because none of my friends in real life have a frickin' clue who they are!

I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".
