I never watched much of the original Law & Order, but I was a big fan of the SVU series for a while, and while it almost always ended with the bad guy getting caught, they had a lot of endings that were ominous or not necessarily happy, so it's not like it was always "bad guy gets caught, everyone is happy."

Very cool 80's NY band as well!

I added three more, by the way...  I watched two episodes of FBI:International last night.  :)

Lately, in terms of endings, there's been a lot of "justice" on these shows.  Meaning, messages sent with the outcome/verdict.  "Yes, that piece of shit [child molester/misogynist/racist/psychopath] got what was coming to them!"   The amount of schadenfreude in our society today is staggering (and for those that go to P/R, a key sign, IMO, of our burgeoning national insecurity).

Is Poker Face any good? I've had a mixed reaction to some of the previews/trailers.
I haven't started it yet, but I've heard nothing but good things.

I've heard it compared to Columbo, so take that for what it's worth.

So every case, she walks away, then turns around at the last minute and says "oh, just one more thing..." and solves the case completely?  :) :) :) :) :)

The structure of the show (and some of the aesthetics) is like Columbo.  1st part of each episode shows us the lead-up and the murder, then the protagonist shows up and solves the case.  There's also a bit of an Incredible Hulk feel, as well, in that she is being pursued so moves on from town to town with each episode.

All 3 FBI shows are excellent too.

I miss Julian McMahon, but yes, all three are good.  I used to really dislike Luke Kleintank on FBI:International, but he's really grown on me.

King Postwhore

For those who like detective shows, watch Will Trent.  It's so well written and acted.  I really like the lead character.

I like Luke's gruff, secretive character.   His results speak to who he really is.

I noticed that in the last few seasons I watched SVU, where the endings were much more "justice is served" and a particular intent seemed to be more obvious with to regards to real societal issues here in America. That's not why I stopped watching, but it's something I noticed.

Been hammering out S2 of 'Shadow and Bone' on Netflix. It's an alright show......fun, nothing special but a fun watch. Have 3 episodes left in S2

lonestar

Took a chance on Succession, 3 episodes in and definitely enjoying it

I'm thinking about this as well. Lots of positive feedback on it.

faizoff

Succession is fucking amazing. Season 4 starts today and strangely showrunner decided during post production that hmm let's end this show for good.

axeman90210

I need to get back to Succession. I've watched the first two seasons but never made it through season 3 in time for this new one.

My gf and I watched season 1 a month ago.  It wasn't bad, but neither of us had any desire to continue.  We both felt the same way, there were no likable characters.

I actually like the weekly wait.

I should but early streaming made me a crack whore for binge watching.

With a TV and my wife. But that's not important now.

I finally found The Pretender on a streaming service I have and watched the first episode.  It was really good.  The only problem is that primary character trait of hot female lead is that she smokes a lot, which negates about 50% of her hotness.

Her snarl will make up for it.  And those long legs.

Time I have.  No little kids at home, and there is only so much sex I can have.

Is that Andrea Parker (I googled!). She's attractive.

Out of curiosity, what streaming service is it on?  When I last did a rewatch, I couldn't find it anywhere, so I bought the DVDs.

Ted Lasso and Yellowjackets. Thoroughly enjoying both. I avoided Ted Lasso for a while because I just don't care about sports or shows/movies about sports, but you know what, it's just charming as hell.

I started "Up Here" last night on Hulu. For some reason the show is a musical and I do not understand why. Typical rom-com otherwise.
