On season 2 of The Expanse. I didn't check how many episodes there were and was surprised when I was already on season 2. Show is great!

I chugged down season 2 in few days  :metal

Also watched Deadloch, that show is an underrated banger  :lol

And I'm currently watching The Tick, a very light version of The Boys (in the general sense that you put satire and humour in the superhero genre... they're not similar shows, it's just the general ballpark), going good so far!

That 90s Show part 3 went up on Thursday. That show is still killing it.

At first I just liked the idea, but the kids were a bit wooden. I kept coming back because Red and Kitty were still nailing it. But now the kids are starting to gel with each other and I feel like some chemistry is starting to happen.

The girl who plays Gwen looks so much like a young Rae Dawn Chong that I thought it might be her daughter, but there's no relation. And the kid who plays Kelso's son is starting to act so much like his 70s counterpart that it enhances the idea that they are father/son. So I like that he's mirroring Ashton's performance more and more.

There's a credit sequence at the end of episode six that I was not expecting. And it made me weepy...

Finally watching Ted Lasso season three.  Better than I was expecting; many people had said it was a let down, and while there are some dodgy things - I don't get the lamb references, I'm not so enamored with a Nathan redemption arc, and we're at the caricature phase of relationships - it's still pretty funny, and I'm still invested in the outcomes.

They announced that the main cast (sans Jason Sudekis, at least as of yet) is convening for a fourth season.  Could be good, could be shark jumping, we'll see.

This has so far been one of the best season of Big Brother in a long time IMO.

I usually never have someone I root heavily for, but Tucker has been soooo much fun to watch this year plus he not only seems like a nice guy, but he's quirky and funny.  I genuinely feel like I'd like him in real life and I rarely feel that way about people on this show, or if I do, they are usually bad players who get eliminated early.  Tucker just keeps winning against all odds and then just goes right after the player he says he is. I'm guessing he'll be out sooner than later just because he's too good, but damn, he's really made this season enjoyable to watch.

And I usually have a player that I love to hate watch.  This season has that too in Angela.  What a psycho! But she's incredibly entertaining and somehow is still in the game.  Usually the wild ones go out quickly, but she remains and therefore the show remains really fun to watch.

Decided to watch The Book of Boba Fett or whatever it is, then Mandalorian Season 3, then the Acolyte. I watched the first episode of BF and it was good (Ming-Na Wen is a marvel and, at 60, a freak of nature in the best possible way) though I found myself struggling to keep my eyes open.  Open mind, though, and I will persevere, but we'll see.

I didn't....love...the Book of Boba Fett. I do love me some Ming Na, but even she wasn't enough to make that show anything good.

Between that and the boring Obi Wan (despite those great Annikan scenes), my wife and I have mostly forgotten about SW. Which is odd since she's a HUGE fan. We watched the first episode of Mando season 3 and were bored, but we did love Andor. Gotta watch the rest of Mando season 3, then do Ahsoka, and The Acolyte. We're not terribly excited.

Finished season 1 of The Tick, surprisingly great. As I said, it's a mini The Boys, not that the shows are really the same but they're in the general ballpark of "focus on the somehow realistic consequences of a world with flawed superheroes".

Also started season 3 of The Expanse.

My gf and I have been watching The Terror. I had somehow never heard about it even though I'm a dork for naval tragedy. It's a really cool dramatization of a real life expedition with some mystical aspects to it. Not finished, but very much enjoying!

Liked Boba Fett more than I thought I would.  Took me seven episodes - it was listening to the outro music on the last episode - until I realized the chant was "Boba... Boba... Boba... Fett!" Haha.

I liked the city-folk, I liked the villains - anyone else see an Iron Maiden/Eddie nod in Cad Bane (I mean, deeper than the obvious Clint Eastwood reference common to both) - but can do without Peli Motto; I hate the cutesy crap, and so much of her and her dialogue seems cliched.  One critique of this show (common to The Mandalorian too, it seems) is the scope of the episodic show isn't big enough. It's hard to accept that the Tusken Raiders numbered only 20, and were wiped out in a camp site that looked as big as my living room.  And the waves of Pyke enforcers - for a group that is using AN ENTIRE PLANET for it's spice trade, can be bested by two guys in armor and a group of kids with the Star Wars version of tats.

Now on to The Mandalorian; I'm three episodes in to season three, and it's pretty good. Liked the Luke appearance, Bo Katan is better than I feared she would be (not a Katie Sackhoff fan at all; I just don't get the fascination with her) but it still veers into the cute-sy too often for me. I get it, there are plushies to sell, but still.

You have to do the double size, like, you put the size 1 and then you do a double size on top of that.

It goes like this, quote me to reply to see the code.

TBoBF also wrote itself into a Disney-shaped corner in that it promised us the "badass character taking over a criminal empire" premise. But then they couldn't have the main character of their Disney-show be a straight up criminal or do interesting crime-boss things, so he just walks around, alone with one other character (where is this criminal empire he is currently in control of? Is a group of like four punk teens the full muster of his force?), gently talking to people and never doing anything interesting or even crime related.

There's also a trend these days with the SW shows that they sometimes feel a bit small. Stads seemed to hint at this with the Tuskan raiders being so few and small. I'm beginning to suspect that it's because of an over-reliance on the volume. Looks great, really good and realistic lighting and reflections, and it's wonderful for production costs. But the volume just isn't that big. You want to have a big set you can move around in? You want to fit more than 20 people? Well too bad. No space for it. Building those sets and hiring those extra actors costs money, whereas firing up the volume is really cheap.

Mind you, I can tolerate the hell out of that when he's walking around with the exquisite Ming-Na!  (It's funny, I was reading what you were saying and thinking of that scene in the last episode where he was in fact walking down the street and nodding at people on the sidewalks).

I'm sure that shooting in the volume is part of it, but this show, and some of the others, were filmed during covid, so keeping the number of actors/extras on set was part of dealing with those protocols.

Midway through season 3 of The Expanse and holy damn the suspence and the mindfuck are off the charts.

My wife and I have been plowing our way through Young Sheldon on Max. We thought we were on the last episode last night, but when it ended I thought "boy, that was a really awful finale for a series that was so well received". Turns out there's a 7th season not available on Max, and it doesn't appear to be available anywhere else for that matter (we have literally every streaming service) if you don't want to pay per episode.

I'm kinda bummed.

It was on Paramount+ when it was still airing.  I guess they pulled it recently.

Finshed the Mandalorian.  Liked it.  I usually hate the cutesy/funny shit - it's almost never what I find cute or funny - but I have to say the "No" and "Yes" buttons for Grogu were funny.  "No."  What did you say?  "No." Then the "Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes" walking down the street got a real life laugh out loud.

Millennium Season 1 and 2

Anyone remember this 90s show?
As an X-phile back in the day I watched a bit of show but never really caught on for me- but I wanted to go back give it a re-watch since I remember the spooky/depressing tone (good Fall watch).

Definitely has an interesting vibe – and literally anything with Lance Henriksen is worth a watch, but I can see why it didn't keep it's audience. First season is fairly uneven (as are most shows in their early run) and it's pretty clear they panicked in Season 2 bringing in a bunch of comedic relief- the tone is all over the place and a bit of a mess. I guess Chris Carter came back in Season 3 and it got better but I haven't watched it yet (the DVDs are hard to find and EXPENSIVE).

Another issue is that it's pretty apparent (like the X-Files) the writers were making up the larger overarching story as they went along, with no real plan or end point.

A well made show like this would probably do well on Netflix today- a sort of blend of Mind Hunter/David Fincher vibe WITH a supernatural spin. Yes please!

Finished season 3 of The Expanse on the final day of my Prime Video subscription (I'm not an avid Amazon user so I don't really need a Prime subscription). Another excellent season  :metal

I'll patiently wait to catch up with the remaining seasons in the future. At this point I'm already halfway through and I'm gonna stick through the end eventually.
