Please do, I wouldn't mind getting into the Top 3. :lol Seriously though, how the hell I'm tied for fourth place all of a sudden? My highest scored song was an 8 in the preliminary round and after that most of my songs got "yeah, this is fine, whatever" attitude, even the power metal ones.

I'll send something tomorrow.
I was second to last and now I have to seriously think to a good song to make the top 3. Instead I didn't know how I could be so much behind because apart a 6.25 in the preliminary round and a vote around 4.5 for Cardiacs, I had 4 votes over 8 and the some around 7.5.

It's hilarious the comparison between Parama and Secondary Judge writeups. Next time someone talks about objectivity in music I should remember this :lol

I don't know what other Norma Jean you could like, Parama. A Thousand Years A Minute, 1.000.000 Watts, Reaction, An Ocean Of War from the new album Polar Similar are some songs I like with some clean vocals and great moments. Some songs are 2 minute aggressive hardcore songs, but the sound is not that different and maybe they can grow on you. There are great songs from Wrongdoers and Meridional too, but Hive Minds is my favourite.
I'm surprised many people knew this band, I thought it would remain not guessed.

Also I thought for days to guess King Prawn at the hangmanen but it sounded silly to me :lol

I'd consider them more hardcore than metalcore, but even Train called them metalcore. When I think to metalcore it comes to my mind bands like Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying I used to listen when I was 15.

have half the songs right now.

i was curious so i checked, if i had done an elimination-style roulette this time & all the songs sent to me up to this point were the same, the two remaining players would be Nekov and Luoto. two of the current top 3. Just an interest observation  :corn

also i'm listening to the artificial language album right now bcuz like i said it was already in my queue of stuff to check out but i probably will not be ending up picking this one up lol...

alright going to go annoy the two people who haven't sent  now

also i'm upset because the new eidola album is like impossible to find naywhere except the band's label's site and it's too expensive there for me to want to bother (also they trapped it in a room with a poster i don't care about)

i might just end up getting degeneraterra bcuz i listened to that one as well and it was pretty dang solid. also i can get that one for under my $15 preferred limit (just barely, but whatever) so that's good news

Round 9 First Impressions

The climax of this is pretty dang intense too. Just a huge wall of noise. Whew. Okay.

Basically this entire song is an amalgamation of elements I don’t tend to like but I will say that it does come together quite nicely, especially that ending.

The music behind the chorus itself though is pretty solid, the strings have more to do and the rest of the instrumentation swells sufficiently, it’s maybe a bit cliché in terms of sound but it’s nice regardless.

Anyways any song that starts with an atmospheric bass groove is a 10/10 in my books so that’s all that really needs to be said.

But the production really does not flatter the songwriting and the riffs themselves seem pretty basic and unmemorable too.

It’s a nice-sounding song with decent instrumentation for sure.

And yeah I can see why I would and do like this, it’s got both some quiet beauty to it and some more intense climaxes that give the song a nice sense of energy.

Yeah I don’t know if this song in particular is something I’m hugely in love with but this is a sound I generally like a lot and this is almost certainly going to get pretty high points.

This is hardly prog thus far but honestly I’m pretty okay with that because from what I’ve heard up to this point, it’s all really good? Like, nothing that unique but just done really well & strikes an emotional chord for sure.

I’m tired right now it’s past midnight. I’m using this as a tidbit so it’s not obvious what I think of this song.

One person still hasn't sent me a song & won't have their song sent to the secondary judge so I only have nine impressions for now. Feels like a bit of a mixed round on first listen, a lot of songs that are almost really good but have one or two major flaws and only a few songs I'm really excited about, but opinions can change.

I could kind of see one of the negative tidbits applying to my song, the production is kind of loud and upfront, but with this style of music I think it actually kinda fits. Some of the positive could apply too tho :azn:
