I'm on my first listen now. On track 3 and I'm already enjoying this way more than Mammoth.

Beardfish have got this fun video diary of the Flying Colors tour.
The first three episodes are mostly in swedish, but they decided to try to speak english for the most time for the rest of the episodes.

Here´s part 9 for ya: (Tilburg) https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tkEIfZ-vPT8

Thanks for the link.  I will need a few more listens to form an opinion on the song.  It took me a while to like the Mammoth cd.  I loved The Void on the first listen.  What can I say about Sleeping in Traffic 1 and 2.  Both of these are great!  For some reason I cannot get into Destined Solitude.  I need to give it a few more spins.

Would love to see these guys here in the US.

I liked the song!

One of my favourite concerts of all time was seeing Beardfish live in Trondheim in 2010. It was like 50-100 people in the club, and everybody got to chat with the band after the show.
Great bunch of guys, and really cool to see one of my favourite bands in such an intimate setting!

I had forgotten about this, but on the cruise they had the whole audience boo for them at one point, myself included. They said they were going to use the audio on the next album and they did indeed, during Ode to the Rock'n'Roller

The cd is growing on me.  I have listened a few times at work on youtube.  Will have to say, they sure do have a lot of variety in the recordings.  After the more 'hard' Void cd(which I thought was great), they return to more of what most folks like about them.

Finally bought it. Just took the album out of the bag and... is the album art intentionally this pixel-y? Because the band logo and album title are pixelated too, and they look terrible. The track list on the back is perfectly printed on, but the but the picture is also pixelated. Nothing frustrating, just me looking at the thing with a o_O face, wondering if I picked up a poorly printed copy.  :lol

insta loved tracks 8 & 9. accumulated circa50 spins of those two in three weeks. i wanna pre crown Ode To The Rock 'n' Roller song of the year based on lyrical theme alone (also, i think ive picked out one of Nick's "boo"s in there)
the few songs initially met with hesitation have seemingly won me over, cuz i cant stop spinning this thing. then again, im a fanboy.

I've considered trying to compare my recording to the album version to see if I could pick myself out, but kinda figured that might be a tad obsessive. :lol

Still, really happy that I enjoyed that track, even before I realized that was the track they were using that recording in, because now of course I'm going to love it no matter what.

I have to say that the song 'Comfort Zone' is one of the best songs ever.  This guys voice is much better on this cd.  If you do decide to listen, as with most Beardfish, it may take a few spins to get into it.  What can you say about a band that includes taped booing from a concert in the song Ode to the Rock and Roller(None of those butt holes really want anything new). :D

I'm one of those butt holes! That said, I'm absolutely loving the something new they've put our way. This is likely my favorite since Sleeping 2, which is my overall favorite.

BEARDFISH. Why is there so little love for them?
« Reply #123 on: March 10, 2015, 12:40:08 PM »
People never talk about them, they feel extremely underrated to me. I've been listening to their albums for the last two-three months and they've become one of my favourite bands. The just sound so classic but fresh at the same time... Have you ever listened to them? Which are your favourite albums/tracks?

Hi there! I've been digging into Beardfish for the last couple of months and they've become one of my favourite groups! Mammoth and SIT2 are the best for me up to now, but I also enjoyed SIT1 and Comfort Zone. SIT2 is one of those few albums on which every single song is perfect, I wouldn't remove any of them. So new fan here!  :tup :lol

I just listened to my first entire Beardfish album today (Sleeping In Traffic Part One).  Some songs I really liked a lot.  It sounded like Gentle Giant and King Crimson thrown in a blender, then topped off with a dash of Stevie Wonder.
Winger would be better!

I've been a big proponent of Beardfish for many years, even before they got the big push from being announced for Progressive Nation, which they later unfortunately had to cancel out of.

I still remember how I lucked into them too. The year before I first saw them at NEARfest, I was at the festival and signed up for a quarterly mag called Progression. Everyone who signed up got to choose 4 promo discs from a selection of about 12. I think most of the 12 I was unfamiliar with, and so I just chose 4 mostly at random.

1 of those was Sleeping in Traffic: Part Two. Loved them ever since. I missed them once in Jersey, and have still had the pleasure of seeing them 4 times. Live they really shine, I think.

Finally getting around to this release. Really liking it for the most part, and I love love love the three The One Inside songs. Comfort Zone is my favorite behind those. Can't really get into the long song, though, so this album's the opposite of Mammoth for me in that regard.

Good band, but I've never been very happy with the relatively dull production values of their albums.  The Void is slightly better than Mammoth in that regard, but it still sounds like a demo to my ears.

After a longer hiatus and some disagreements and various difficulties within the band we have decided to call it quits. This was not an easy choice to make. Beardfish has always been our main musical outlet - a proper garage band - the kind that meet up in the rehearsal studio and try out new material together for long, massive sessions at a time. Some of the best times of our lives have been spent together on the road, in the studio and just hanging out.
Growing up, having families and all that has made that particular way of working very difficult, leading to long periods where we haven't been able to rehearse.. And we LIKE to play.

We've had a very good run though; eight albums in fifteen years, nine if you include "The early years" (ten if you count "The Sane Day" double album as two!). We've toured with some great bands. We've met amazing people and found friends in places we'd never been before.
We want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the years, you guys are fantastic and the prog community is a very special place to be a part of.

We spent our youth and our early adulthood as Beardfish and we grew up within the band.. Individually we will now venture out into other musical projects. No matter what, Beardfish has been very special and we will all hold it close to our hearts, but right now it's time for new adventures.

A sad way to find it, but I'm glad I've discovered this thread, and that there are a few Beardfish fans around here.

I bought SiT2 last year, mainly for the incredible title track, which stands as one of the great prog epics of our time. I really enjoy the rest of the album too, especially Into the Night and Cashflow. Then I found the Discovering boxset and in one fell swoop (and a bargain price) got four of their other albums as well (SiT1, DS, Mammoth and The Void). For that price, I didn't mind having a 2nd copy of SIT2 at all. I'm still getting familiar with the albums, as I've got quite a bit of new music lately. But Beardfish were a wonderful band, with a sense of humour seldom seen in music.
